This Grand Slam May be Turned into a Tattoo and More Late-Game Heroics

Today’s edition of top MLB social posts is all about late-game heroics. There were plenty to go around Wednesday, from an Oakland Athletics grand slam that may be immortalized in ink, to a late-night Braves walk-off. Then there was the Red Sox walk-off walk. From an extra-innings home run to an extra-innings error, both of which led to road victories. Rest assured, it was a fun night for teams across Major League Baseball.

The most fun late-game heroics of the day concerned the Athletics and Ramon Laureano’s grand slam, thanks to one fan’s promise beforehand — and the team calling him out on it.

The last game of the day was in Atlanta, where a rain delay and extra innings led to some Ozzie magic.

Sometimes you need to hit the ball. Other times, as the Red Sox showed Thursday, you just don’t swing at the bad ones.

Speaking of hitting the ball: The Brewers ended a showdown in Houston when Mike Moustakas put them ahead in the top of the 14th inning.

Then there are completely different ways to win ballgames. After blowing a 6-1 lead in the eighth and ninth innings, the Mariners let the Twins fall on their own sword in the 10th.
