The St. Louis Blues became the third team to punch their ticket to the conference finals on Tuesday night. St. Louis edged Dallas 2-1 in overtime to make the Western Conference Finals where they await either San Jose or Colorado. The Sharks and Avalanche will face off in Game 7 tonight to close out the conference finals.

Pat Maroon was the hero for St. Louis last night. Maroon is a native of St. Louis, so seeing him notch the series clinching goal in double overtime brought many fans to tears. It was the second time he had scored a game winning goal this series, as he also tallied the game winner in Game 3.

Ben Bishop was phenomenal in the net for the Stars last night, and his performance almost led to Dallas stealing the series. Bishop stopped 52 of 54 shots in Game 7, and was fantastic throughout the series.

The final conference finalist will be determined late tonight as the San Jose Sharks host the Colorado Avalanche in a winner-take-all Game 7. One of the big questions heading into the game is whether Joe Pavelski will play, and early indications are that he will be on the ice.

The Buffalo Sabres ownership group has decided to end their involvement in the National Women’s Hockey League. The NWHL is on thin ice after more than 200 women’s hockey players threatened to boycott the league, and this move further clouds whether or not we will see the NWHL survive.

The NHL confirmed what we all assumed would happen after Charlie McAvoy went to the head of Josh Anderson in Game 6 of Boston’s series with Columbus. McAvoy has been suspended for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
