Bowl season gets underway this Saturday with five games on the menu. We’ve delved into the details of each of the five contests and have found the top 5 betting trends to help you handicap the games.
Utah State is 9-3 ATS this season. They are also 7-2 ATS and 9-0 SU as a favorite this year. Over the last three years, they are 12-6 ATS and 15-3 SU when favored.
Utah State was an impressive 10-2 this season. Their only two losses came to teams that were ranked at the time as they lost at No. 11 Michigan State in their season opener and fell at No. 23 Boise State in their final game of the year.

The Aggies were very reliable against the spread as they covered nine of their 12 games. They’re currently an eight-point favorite against North Texas, who finished the year just 5-3 in their final eight games after starting 4-0.
The under is 9-3 in Tulane games this season. The under is also 5-1 the last six times ULL came off a bye and 5-1 the last six times they were a dog of 3.5 to 10 points.
Tulane finished the year 6-6 overall but their 5-3 conference record was good enough to earn them a tie for first in the AAC West. Even though the AAC features a number of high-scoring teams, they played a ton of unders. It’s easy to see why as Tulane was 91st in points per game with just 24.2 per game. Their defense is also tough. It’ll be interesting to see what ULL can do against them as the Ragin’ Cajuns offense was more effective at home than on the road. They scored 45 points per game at home compared to just 21.3 in away games.
Fresno State has covered 27 of their last 37 games. They are also 12-6 ATS in their last 18 as a favorite and 13-2 ATS in their last 15 against teams with a winning record.
Fresno State might be one of the most underrated teams in the country. They won 11 games and the Mountain West conference title, but received virtually no national attention. They are the No. 21 team in the country.
The Bulldogs have been a covering machine – especially when favored and especially against good teams. They’ll take on Arizona State in the Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl. Arizona State won four of their final five games to become bowl eligible.
Eastern Michigan has covered 17 of the last 22 times they’ve been a dog. They are also 11-2 ATS in their last 13 non-conference affairs.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles didn’t look like they were going bowling after starting just 2-4 but they finished the year with wins in five of their final six games. That landed them in second place in the MAC West and a spot in the Camelia Bowl facing Georgia Southern.
Keep an eye on this betting line as Georgia Southern is a small 1.5-point favorite. That’s relevant because if Eastern Michigan closes as a dog, that’s a good sign for them. They seem to thrive in that role quite often.
Appalachian State has won and covered seven straight times after a bye week.
Appalachian State is fresh off an excellent campaign as they won 10 of their 12 games, including the Sun Belt title. Now they’ll take on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders in the New Orleans Bowl. The Blue Raiders finished first in Conference USA East, but lost in the championship game. On the year, they were just 8-5.
What we know about App State is they are particularly dangerous after a bye week. They’ve won and covered seven straight times in that role, which includes once this year. They smoked Gardner-Webb 72-7 after having a week off in early September.
