Great plays deserve great social media posts. Just ask the Padres and Manny Machado. Lucky plays sometimes do, too. And bad plays? Well, they’re their own brand of special. Just ask the Orioles and Indians, who had a pretty epic double play turned and another pretty epic … double play most definitely not turned. Then there’s Yasiel Puig, who should probably just have a camera focused on him every minute of every game, and a Minor League announcer who knows how to make a moment go viral.
Manny Machado makes great play. Manny Machado looks casual making great play. Rinse and repeat.

So, baseball is strange, and you won’t see a stranger moment from Thursday than when the Orioles fielded a ground ball with the bases loaded and one out — didn’t make a single error, mind you, at least not one in the scorebook — and managed to allow two runs to score without getting an out.

Then, later in the game, the Indians took a scalding line drive and turned it into two outs. Maybe that’s why one team is good and the other isn’t.
One of the more impressive double plays you’ll see.

The Reds’ Yasiel Puig recently did an interview in which he explained his bat-licking habit with ice cream. Now Puig at-bats make us hungry.
“Every time I lick my bat I think about ice cream.”

And finally, the play-by-play announcer of the Somerset (New Jersey) Patriots caught a foul ball while broadcasting … and was very, very proud of himself. At least he admitted so.
