The talk of the day in Major League Baseball was Tim Anderson’s home run, bat flip and the subsequent brawl between the White Sox and Royals. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, and it won’t be the last, as long as some players continue to take unwritten rules regarding batter celebrations so seriously. Meanwhile, there was also a big home run for the Yankees’ Brett Gardner and some dugout fun in L.A. for the Dodgers.
Tim Anderson flipped his bat and it upset the Royals. The Royals drilled him later in the game and it upset the White Sox. You can probably guess what happened next.

Better “retaliation” for a bat flip should be striking the guy out the next time he comes to the plate. Hitting someone with a pitch is a) an injury risk, b) benefits the other team by putting a runner on base, and c) isn’t fun.

The New York Yankees’ Brett Gardner hit his 100th career home run Wednesday night, and this one was a special one. It was a grand slam, it came against the rival Red Sox and it gave the Yankees a 5-3 lead in the seventh inning in what became a two-game series sweep.

Brett Gardner is the 895th MLB player to hit 100 career home runs, and the 23rd to reach the milestone with a grand slam. 4th Yankee (Eric Soderholm, Matt Nokes, Jacoby Ellsbury). pic.twitter.com/5FsWwIlXhL
