The Mets are 19-18 SU and 16-21 ATS. The team has lost 1.0 units for moneyline bettors and 5.5 units against the spread (ATS). New York has covered the spread only once in its last seven games and the under has hit in six of those seven. The Blue Jays have gone 21-20 SU this year and are 21-20 ATS. Toronto is 3-4 ATS over its last seven games and the total has gone under in six of those seven.

New York games have had an over/under record of 17-19-1 so far in 2018. The Blue Jays have an over/under record of 17-19-5.

The southpaw Jaime Garcia is the projected starter for the visiting Blue Jays. Garcia is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA and 35 strikeouts. He has yet to face New York this year, but he did make three starts against the Mets in 2017, compiling a 0-2 record against them with a 4.42 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

The Mets are preparing to start righty Noah Syndergaard (2-1, 3.09 ERA), who has 54 punchouts and 10 walks to his name, as well as a WHIP of 1.20. Syndergaard did not record a start against the Blue Jays in 2017.

As a unit, New York’s pitchers have yielded 4.5 runs per game overall in 2018. The club’s starters have a 4.35 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings. The bullpen has a 3.90 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 8.9 K/9.

New York’s hitters are putting up 4.1 runs per contest, including 2.4 per game over its last 10 games and 3.0 per game over their last five. The team’s hit .251/.308/.450 over its last five games and is 2-3 SU during that span.

The Mets’ hitters have been led by second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera and right fielder Brandon Nimmo. Cabrera is hitting .329/.376/.552 with six home runs, 23 RBIs and 23 runs scored, while Nimmo is batting .259 with 14 hits, three RBIs and 12 runs.

Cabrera did not perform very well against lefty pitching at home last season, slashing .268/.288/.286 in 59 such plate appearances (compared to his total season line of .280/.351/.434).

In the other dugout, Toronto’s pitching staff allowed 4.7 runs per game and its starters own a 5.55 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8.10 K/9. The bullpen has managed an excellent ERA of just 2.78, along with a WHIP of 1.50 and a K/9 of 9.33.

Blue Jays hitters have slashed .232/.313/.420 on their way to 4.8 runs scored per game in 2018, including 2.9 runs per game over the team’s last 10 games and 3.6 per game over the team’s last five contests (2-3 SU).

Outfielders Kevin Pillar and Curtis Granderson have led Toronto’s offense. Pillar is slashing .308/.349/.519 with four home runs, 17 RBIs, 25 runs and eight stolen bases, while Granderson (.266/.431/.468) is up to three homers, 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Putting up a slash line of .234/.353/.542 across 238 plate appearances, Granderson seemed to enjoy hitting righties on the road in 2017 (compared to his overall season line of .212/.323/.450).

The Blue Jays have gained 1.3 units and are 11-13 ATS when facing a righty starter this season. The over has hit in 11 of those games, compared to 10 that’ve gone under in such games. On the other hand, the Mets have lost 0.1 units and are 5-4 ATS when facing a lefty starter. The over has cashed in three of those games, compared to six that went under the total.
