The ligament damage that Sergio Aguero suffered last week is a major blow to Manchester City’s Premier League title hopes, but it also might encourage them to make a move. Even with the likes of Edin Dzeko and Yaya Toure looking to step up and fill the void he left, it seems as though the transfer market could be a very real possibility as well for Man City to find some help. After all, a lot of teams will be doing the same.
There are a lot of hot rumors going on right now, so let’s take a look at some of the more reasonable ones that could actually come to fruition
Correa To Manchester City
Name another player that would be a better fit to help fill the void than the one dubbed “The next Sergio Aguero?” Seems like an ideal solution, doesn’t it?
Argentine prospect Joaquin Correa has been identified as a future superstar and the latest rumors have Manchester City as the favorite to land him. He wouldn’t actually slide in to Aguero’s spot but the 18-year-old attacking midfield would be a solid addition to City’s already deep attacking core.
PSG, Monaco, and Chelsea have all been in talks to try and sign Correa but according to reports it is Manchester City that is closest to getting a deal done. It would definitely soften the blow if Man City could acquire Correa. He would be able to contribute for the time being until Aguero returns.
Chelsea Makes Torres Available
Things have gotten so bad for Spanish striker Fernando Torres that Chelsea is now set to make him available for free to its biggest Premier League rivals.
The decision comes on the heels of AC Milan’s decision to cancel the two-year loan agreement they had with the Blues in its first season after he scored just one goal for the Serie A side. Torres has declined dramatically since he first arrived at Chelsea, but he’s still set to make a ton of money. That’s why it’s not a huge surprise that they are trying to move him even if it means one of their rivals pick him up.
A change of scenery could help this former star out but, right now, he’s languishing for the Blues.
Real Madrid Ready To Move Bale In Sterling Bid
The Spanish giants are high on adding Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling and the latest rumors have them offering up Gareth Bale to Manchester United or Chelsea in order to fund the move.
United has closed the gap behind Chelsea and Manchester City near the top of the Premier League over the past couple of weeks and adding a player of Bale’s ability would provide a huge boost for a team that suddenly sees itself as a contender in the Premier League. Sterling would be a nice piece of the puzzle for Real Madrid but they’ll have to work some things around to get it done. We’ll see whether they can maneuver this one but it does make sense.
QPR, Tottenham Bidding For Manning
Galway prospect Ryan Manning is an Ireland youth international that can play midfield or attack up front, and his versatility and skill set has made him a prime target for a couple of Premier League teams in Tottenham and QPR. Although they aren’t exactly competing for a title this season, they are still looking to improve their roster and Manning would provide a boost.
Harry Redknapp has also considered making a move for a pair of former Spurs in Robbie Keane and Jermaine Defoe, so it wouldn’t be a major surprise if QPR immediately turned its attention to that duo if they miss out on signing Manning. Both are quality veterans that would be able to help QPR right off the bat but of course, they’re waiting on Tottenham to make their move.
