TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

The Tottenham Hotspur is the only team that can endanger the Chelsea FC at the top of the league table as they are only four points behind with 74 points in 34 games. There are five more rounds before the end of the regular season and four points disadvantage definitely doesn’t present an unreachable difference, so do we need to mention that a lot is at stake on Sunday afternoon???

The Tottenham Spurs are currently riding an eight games winning streak and they are definitely the team with the best form in the English Premier League right now. They are undefeated at home this season with overall record 15-2-0 in front of their own crowd. Goal difference at the White Hart Lane is 43-8 and they are the best home team in England this year with 47 of 51 possible points earned.

They’ve managed to emerge victorious in 15 of their last 18 match-ups with only one defeat (2:0 against Liverpool at the Anfield). They score 2.53 goals and concede 0.47 goals at home (2.09-0.67 overall) and 59% of their home matches had over 2.5 goals while 41% of their home games had over 3.5 goals in total. 18% of their home matches had over 4.5 goals and only 12% of those games had over 2.5 goals at half-time.

Both teams scored in 35% of their home games while the Spurs managed to score in both halves in 47% of the matchups at White Hart Lane. Oppose to that they conceded at least one goal in only 6% of their overall matches. Most common results at home are 4:0 win (occurred four times) and 1-0 win (occurred three times) while most common score at the half-time was 2-0 lead (occurred five times) and 1-0 lead (occurred four times).

Harry Kane tops the team in scoring this season with 20 goals so far while Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min have 16 and 12 in their accounts. Christian Eriksen is the team’s leading assister with 12 while Kane and Alli collected six and five. Eriksen is also team’s leading passer with 1788 total passes while Jan Verthongen has 1732. Goalkeepers Hugo Lloris (29 appearances) and Michel Vorm (five appearances) have 69 saves and 16 games with clean sheets combined.

Erik Lamela (Hip) is expected to be out until at least June 1st, while Danny Rose (MCL Knee) will be out until May 5th. Michel Vorm (Knee) and Moussa Dembele (Ankle) will have late fitness tests while Harry Winks (Ankle) has unspecified date of return.

ARSENAL FC

The Arsenal FC currently ranks sixth in the English Premier League and they still have the chance to qualify for the Champions League next season but that is going to be very hard task considering their schedule and very crowded part of the table that they are at. Arsene Wenger is under pressure from the fans right now and if he fails to deliver the Champions League competition next season, his days at the Gunners helm will almost certainly be over.

Team is 4-1-3 in the last eight games but they are coming off from two consecutive wins against the Leicester City (1:0) and Middlesbrough (2:1) and if they can get any kind of positive result from White Hart Lane the period of bad form could be over. They are 1-0-3 in the last four away games and overall record on the road is 7-3-6 with 32-25 goal difference (64-40 overall). Arsenal ranks sixth in the away league table with 24 of 48 possible points earned, three less than their next opponent.

The Gunners score 2.00 and concede 1.56 goals on the road this season (2.00-1.25 overall) and 25% of their road games had over 4.5 goals per match. 81% of their road matches had over 2.5 goals and 56% of their away games had over 3.5 goals in total while only 6% of those matches had over 2.5 goals at the half-time. In 75% of Arsenal’s visiting games both team scored and they’ve managed to score in both halves in 31% of their away games while conceding in both halves in 38% of their road games. Most common result on the road is a 3-1 loss (occurred three times) while most common score at the half-time is a 1:0 lead (occurred six times).

Alexis Sanchez leads the team in scoring this season with 19 goals in the league while Theo Walcott has 10 in his account. Sanchez is also team’s leading assister with nine while Mesut Ozil collected six. Granit Xhaka and Ozil top the passing segment with 1891 and 1722 total passes while Sanchez leads the team in total shots towards the opponent’s goal with 106. Goalies David Ospina (two appearances), Petr Cech (29 appearances) and Emiliano Martinez (two appearances) have 97 saves and 10 games with clean sheets combined.

Santi Cazorla (Plantaris) is expected to be out until at least July 1st while Shkodran Mustafi (Thigh) should be back after May 13th. Laurent Koscielny (Knee) is back in training and he will have late fitness test.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal FC – Match Prediction

Besides the result, this game is also about pride as the winner gets the bragging rights in North London until their next match-up. A lot is at stake and both teams will probably enter the game very carefully. The Tottenham Hotspurs team is in a  better form currently and is probably the better team at the moment but that doesn’t guarantee them a positive result. On the other side, the Arsenal Gunners will need a positive result on Sunday as they await another tough test in the next round when they face-off with Manchester United. Both teams would probably consider a draw as a failure but I would go there with my bet. Also at least one goal scored from both teams is a big possibility.

My pick: Draw (+305)
