Trainer Lacey Gaudet Has Classy Pedigree

Marabea, shown here rallying on the inside, is trained by up and coming conditioner Lacey Gaudet.

Trainer Lacey Gaudet has a classy pedigree and she did not get to this point of her career by missing out of any of her lessons. Growing up in a racing family has given her the foundation to succeed and with the help of her loved ones, Lacey is seeing the fruits of her labor.
Her father is the retired Maryland trainer Eddie and her mother Linda also trained horses for years. Mother and daughter were competing on the same stage until four or five years ago but then they decided to combine forces and it has been working.
Eddie was a fixture on the Laurel/Pimlico circuit and this is a logical progression for the family. Linda was a former show-horse woman so she knows the anatomy of the animals as well as anybody. Lacey has been around the barn since she was 12 years old so she understands every facet of the game. Lacey also is aware that in this day and age in order to succeed, a barn has to be social.
Lacey wants to expand the exposure for the barn and try to attract new owners. Just like every other facet in life, networking is imperative.
After Eddie hung up the training shoes, after winning over 1,700 races, mother and daughter knew it was better to build as a team. Linda is behind the scenes now and the horses are all in Lacey’s name.
The numbers tell the story. Lacey has won with 30 of her 164 starters this year and the purses she has won amount to close to $700,000. At the current meeting, she has watched 13 happy endings for her 53 starters.
Fans got a chance to see how trainer Lacey Gaudet has done her work earlier this month at Gulfstream Park when the Claiming Crown Series was renewed for the 18th time.
The event has reached new heights over the past five seasons thanks in large part to the efforts of the Florida horsemen and Gulfstream Park. It is now one of the signature events to kick off the Championship Meet at Gulfstream.
Lacey’s student Marabea was the first of 3 runners for Gaudet on the Claiming Crown Series day and she carried her weight. The filly has a strong late kick and it was in full force winning the $125,000 Tiara. The thing about trainer Lacey Gaudet is that she has an extremely good eye for a purchase.
She claimed Marabea at the Saratoga meeting this summer from Team Valor and trainer Graham Motion. She won an 8-way shake for the privilege of training Marabea. A shake occurs when more than one trainer puts in a claim for a horse. Luck was in her corner that the dice rolled her way.
Gaudet rested Marabea for about 2 months and brought her back in a protected spot and cashed in a $25,000 starter race at Laurel. The youngster shipped into Gulfstream, conceded seven lengths early on but nailed the speed by a neck at 6-1.
Trainer Lacey Gaudet seemed to have a live runner in the $190,000 Jewel but it was not to be. The gelding John Jones had won four straight races at Laurel and was 9-2 in the race. He was caught between horses and had to settle for third, all in all, not a bad result.
It didn’t work out great for trainer Lacey Gaudet with her starter Music Critik. He was trying to win his third straight in the Emerald but he pressed the pace and then faded to be beaten two lengths.
This Saturday trainer Lacey Gaudet has a runner that must be respected in the fourth race at Laurel Park. Justalittlebitmore ships in from Belmont Park and shows up in his career soft spot. He was handled by solid trainer Mike Hushion in New York and he has trained forwardly for the Saturday encounter. When any semblance of speed in the race, Justalittlebitmore has every right to run big.
What can bettors look to when scrutinizing runners by trainer Lacey Gaudet? When Gaudet puts a horse in a maiden claimer after running in a Maiden Special Weight spot, wake up. She has won with one of her 9 starters in that category but that runner paid over $36 and four others were in the money.
Gaudet also knows when to switch equipment on a horse. When she has added blinkers for the first time, her runners have won 4 of 12 starts and 2 ran in the money at 9-2 and 9-1.
Bettors that engage in Eastern racing, particularly on the Laurel circuit, need to follow trainer Lacey Gaudet.

I have been lucky enough to be a public horseracing handicapper for nearly 4 decades and I know how fortunate I am to do something I truly love. Hopefully, we can cash a lot of tickets and progress on this mission known as cashing tickets.
