Chloe Beck, Karolina Berankova, and Georgia Drummy will represent Duke in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Individual Championships, the NCAA announced Tuesday. The trio won at-large tickets to the event. Beck and Drummy were both invited to compete in the singles championships, with both players getting top-16 singles seeds. Berankova and Drummy will compete in doubles for the Blue Devils.Singles and doubles competition will take place from May 23 to 28 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois, following the conclusion of the team championship on May 20-22. The host institution will be the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. All matches must be the best-of-three sets. At six games apiece, all matches will be decided by no-ad scoring and a seven-point tiebreaker (first to seven points must win by two points). In doubles, in place of a third set, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be contested.
Beck earned her second at-large ticket to the individual championships and will compete in the singles bracket for the first time following a successful junior season. Beck has been a consistent performer in the ITA polls and has led the team in the singles rankings all season, presently sitting at No. 10. The Watkinsville, Ga., native possesses a 19-2 record this season that contains seven wins against ranked opponents. Beck finished conference play unbeaten at 13-0, becoming the first Blue Devil player to do it since 2018.
Drummy will compete in her second NCAA Singles Championship in a row. Throughout the season, the Dublin, Ireland native has been a fixture in the ITA singles poll, climbing the leaderboard to her present position of 15th. Drummy is 13-6 and has won four straight matches, including her past two against ranked opponents.
