Tulane Green Wave at Cincinnati Bearcats: NCAA Football Betting Preview

A couple of schools that prefer to run the football, Bearcats (-7) are set to welcome their AAC foe Tulane Green Wave to Cincinnati. This afternoon game is scheduled to kick off at 12:00 p.m. ET and ESPNU has the TV rights.

In this Saturday American Athletic Conference matchup, Cincinnati is getting picked as the favorite and is currently giving up 7 points. In order to take the home favorite, moneyline gamblers would currently have to lay down $300 to win $100 back on the Bearcats (-300). The Green Wave are getting +220 moneyline odds. Multiple good live betting opportunities might present themselves during the matchup, and oddsmakers have placed the over/under (O/U) at 52.5 points.

The game’s O/U has moved upward after initially being set at 51. The opening line of -7 hasn’t changed.

Cincinnati is coming off of a 49-7 win over Connecticut. Desmond Ridder completed 20-of-26 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns. Michael Warren II (106 yards on 13 rush attempts, two TDs) and Tavion Thomas (56 yards on 10 carries, one TD) spearheaded the running game as Josiah Deguara (five receptions, 112 yards, one TD) and Thomas Geddis (five catches, 45 yards) led the pass-catching corps in the win.

Each of these squads sports a similar run-pass ratio on the season. Tulane has run the ball on 65.4 percent of its offensive possessions while Cincinnati has an overall rush percentage of 66.5. The Green Wave have produced 203 rush yards/game and have 11 touchdowns on the ground this year. The Bearcats are putting up 252 rush yards per game and have 19 total rushing TDs.

It seems like the Bearcats could have the advantage in all aspects of the ground game. Their backfield has logged 5.2 yards per carry while their defense has allowed 3.9 YPC to opponents. The Green Wave have recorded 4.6 yards per carry while allowing a YPC of 4.0 to opponents.

The Green Wave offensive scheme has averaged 197 yards in the air overall and has six passing TDs so far. The Bearcats have put up 220 pass yards per contest and have eight total pass scores.

Defensively, Tulane has allowed opponents to rush for an average of 156 yards and throw for 292 yards per game. The Cincinnati defense has allowed 158.8 yards per game to opposing passers and 114.0 yards per game to opposing runners. Offensively, Banks has put up 778 passing yards this season. The signal-caller has connected on 50 percent of his 98 attempts with five scores through the air and only one interception. Banks has a 6.54 adjusted net yards per pass attempt, including 5.95 over the last two outings.

Desmond Ridder has managed to complete 48-of-71 passes for 614 yards, six TDs and zero INTs for Cincinnati. His ANY/A stands at 9.30 for the season and 10.00 over his last two outings.

These two schools faced off a year ago with the final result being a 17-16 victory for Cincinnati.
