With the Europa League second leg qualifiers already started, the remaining teams are pushing themselves for this final effort in a bid to secure their places in the second round of the Europa League qualifiers. Bangor City will welcome Danish team Lyngby to Wales to hopefully avenge the first league defeat. Belarus based club Dinamo Minsk will visit the Faeroese club NSI Runavik to seal their spot in the next round. NK Olimpija Ljubljana will welcome Finnish team VPS while Altach welcome Chikhura to Austria, hoping to get a positive result.
BANGOR CITY (WAL) vs. LYNGBY (DEN)
Three-Way: 1: BANGOR CITY +802; X: +440 DRAW; 2: LYNGBY-270
Spread +1.5: BANGOR CITY -118; LYNGBY +110
Total +3: Over +110; Under -133
BANGOR CITY (WAL)
The Welsh club has been in a good run of form in the last few matches. Of its last six matches, Bangor City has won four matches, while losing the other two. Their last league match was a 1:0 win against Cardiff Metropolitan, which was followed by an agonizing 0:1 defeat in the first leg of the Europa League qualifier against Lyngby.
Over that period, they have scored 10 goals, while conceding 7. This summer, they have been on a transfer spree from English Club Accrington Stanley, as they have signed youngsters Steven Hewitt, Brayden Shaw and Luke Wall from the club, all on free transfers. The manager will be hoping that these players can help the team advance to the second round.
LYNGBY (DEN)
Lyngby has been in scintillating form of late, as they are on a six match winning streak currently in all competitions. Before their 1:0 win against Bangor City in the first leg of the Europa League qualifiers, they defeated Midtjylland 3:0 in the Danish league’s championship round.
In their current winning run, they have scored 13 goals, while conceding just two goals, which shows how efficient they have been at both ends of the pitch. Like their opponents on Thursday, the Danish club has also made three free signings, as they have signed Oliver Lund, Mathias Rasmussen and goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen on a free transfer, all from their division rivals.
BANGOR CITY (WAL) vs. LYNGBY (DEN)- MATCH PREDICTION:
The last match between both these sides was a close contest, with the Danish side just edging through the match. This match, being a home match for the Welsh club, will definitely not be an easy ride for Lyngby. However, looking at the players on the teams for both the teams and current form, I feel that the Danish club will advance to the second round. More importantly, this game will most likely be a tight contest, so I don’t expect too many goals, which is why I am taking the under.
MY PICK: Under 3 goals (-133)
NSI RUNAVIK (FAI) vs. DINAMO MINSK (BLR)
Three-Way: 1: NSI RUNAVIK +750; X: +374 Draw; 2: DINAMO MINSK -233
Spread +1.5: NSI RUNAVIK -128; DINAMO MINSK +122
Total +2.5: Over -125; Under +112
NSI RUNAVIK
The Faeroese club has been in a very inconsistent run of form. They have won two games, lost 2, and drawn 2 games in the last six matches. They lost the first leg of this qualifying tie against Dinamo Minsk by 2:1, although they managed to get a very vital away goal. Before the first leg they lost 2:1 in the league to Skala.
During their last six games, they have scored 10 goals, while at the same time conceding 8 goals. The manager will be hopeful that the home ground advantage proves helpful to motivate the team to stage a comeback.
DINAMO MINSK
The club from Belarus has been in fairly good from, barring their latest match in which they were defeated. They were on a five match winning streak, before the league match against Vitebsk, which they lost 1:3. They were victorious in the first leg of the Europa League qualifiers by 2:1.
During this run, they have scored 10 goals, while conceding just four. The fans will be hoping that these numbers swing and remain towards the positive direction, and in the process, seal progression to the next round.
NSI RUNAVIK (FAI) vs. DINAMO MINSK (BLR) – MATCH PREDICTION:
Even though it is an away match for Dinamo Minsk, it doesn’t really look like they will end up on the losing side. Yes, they did survive the first leg with just a goal separating the two sides, but keeping in mind the current form and the players on the teams, I feel that a Dinamo Minsk win is going to be a safe bet. I will take the over 2.5 goals and both teams to score.
MY PICK: Over 2.5 goals (-125)
Additional Pick: Both teams to score YES (+110)
NK OLIMPIJA LJUBLJANA (SLO) vs. VPS (FIN)
Three-Way: 1: NK OLIMPIJA LJUBLJANA -208; X: +355 Draw; 2: VPS +700
Spread -1: NK OLIMPIJA LJUBLJANA -125; VPS +120
Total +2.5: Over +104; Under -108
NK OLIMPIJA LJUBLJANA ( SLO)
It is safe to say that Olimpija Ljubljana has been in poor form of late. Over the last 6 matches, they have lost three, won 2, and drawn one. both of their last two games have been defeats. A 1:0 defeat in the Slovenian league against Domzale was followed by a 1:0 loss against VPS in the first league of the Europa League qualifiers.
They have scored only three goals in the last six matches, while conceding five times. In the current transfer window, Olimpija has bought two youngsters in Issah Abass (18) and Jurij Spanja (17) in the hopes of adding freshness and width to their game.
VPS (FIN)
Compared to their opponents on Thursday, VPS has been in good form. They are currently on an 8 game unbeaten run. In their last six matches, they have three wins and three draws. Their last match was a scoreless draw in the league against Mariehamn, which was preceding their first leg win against Olimpija in the Europa League qualifiers.
Even though they have been on a good run of from, they haven’t been very efficient in scoring. They have only scored 5 goals in their last 6 games, while conceding just twice, pointing towards a defensive approach.
NK OLIMPIJA LJUBLJANA (SLO) vs. VPS (FIN)- MATCH PREDICTION:
While the first leg was a close affair, as the teams were separated by just a goal in the end, it is pretty clear that VPS are the side that stands a better chance of winning this tie. On the other side, the home team will most likely come out strong hoping to score an early goal, which is an indication that we might see a lot of action on both sides of the pitch. Therefore, I would put my money on both teams to score which is offered at the tempting +138 value.
MY PICK: Both teams to score YES (+138)
ALTACH (AUT) vs. CHIKHURA (GEO)
Three-Way: 1: ALTACH -303; X: +480 Draw ; 2: CHIKHURA +1000
Spread -1.5: ALTACH -102; CHIKHURA -103
Total +3: Over +116; Under -118
ALTACH (AUT)
The Austrian club has been in poor form of late. Their last match was a win against Chikhura in the first leg of the Europa League qualifiers by 1:0, but before that, they have lost 4 consecutive matches in the domestic league, with the last of those being a 0:1 loss against Salzburg.
They have been very poor at both ends of the pitch. They have scored just 3 goals in the last six matches, while conceding 7 in the same period. The club has signed Midfielders Stefan Nutz and Simon Piesinger along with Adrian Grbic in an effort to put freshness and attacking intent in the team.
CHIKHURA (GEO)
Even though they have three wins in their last six games, the Georgian club has been very inconsistent. Both of their last two matches ended in defeat; a 3:0 loss against Lokomotivi in the league followed by a 1:0 defeat in the first leg against Altach.
They are not very effective in front of goal, as the results over the last few matches have shown. Over the last six games, they have scored 7 goals, while conceding 12. Such an imbalance usually points to negative results. They have also signed Zurab Mtskerashvili and Papuna Poniava on free transfers to bolster their squads.
ALTACH (AUT) vs. CHIKHURA (GEO)- MATCH PREDICTION:
Even though Altach has been in poor form of late, this is a home game for them. And for sure, their spirits are buoyed by the first leg victory. Therefore, my prediction will be a comfortable home victory for the Austrian side.
MY PICK: ALTACH -2 AH (-102)
