The UFC 187 PPV event is coming up this Saturday in Las Vegas with a card headlined by the Daniel Cormier vs Anthony Johnson main event for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight title. The co-main event features another title on the line as middleweight champion Chris Weidman makes his third title defense facing Vitor Belfort.
Despite the loss of the original main event pitting Anthony Johnson against Jon Jones for the title, this is still considered one of the strongest PPV events of the year for the UFC. The third bout features Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone facing John Makdessi. Makdessi is a late replacement for Khabib Nurmaogmedov, who was originally scheduled to face Cerrone and had to be scratched due to an injury. Makdessi has won four of his last five fights, including his last outing on April 25, when he defeated Shane Campbell.

A heavyweight bout pits veteran Andre Arlovski and Travis Browne in a fight that could put the winner into the number two spot in the weight class behind Stipe Miocic as they contend to face the winner of Cain Velasquez vs Fabricio Werdum for the title. Arlovksi is almost ten years removed from when he held the UFC’s Heavyweight title, but he has fought well with the WSOF and he is now 2-0 in his UFC return.
The opening fight of the broadcast features John Moraga facing Joseph Benavides in a match-up of Flyweights that are looking to be the next contender for the divisional title held by Demetrious Johnson.
