UFC 197 Opening Odds

UFC 197 Opening Odds are up at the sport books! The event is scheduled for March 5th in las Vegas, and the main events featuring Conor McGregor vs Rafael Dos Anjos and Holly Holm vs Meisha Tate assure this will be one of the biggest pay-per-view events in the UFC’s history.  With McGregor and Holm coming through their last fights unscathed and Tate and Dos Anjos just sying for a big money fight, fast tracking these matches makes sense.

UFC 197 Opening Odds: McGregor Opens Near Pick ’em

No matter what, it will be interesting thing to see how much this line moves between now and the day they lock the cage.  Expect McGregor’s followers to check in at some point and move the numbers, just call it another aspect of the “Conor Effect”.  In Dos Anjos, McGregor is facing a Lightweight with an efficient game who will not let an opening to the win go by.  Despite moving up a weight class, McGregor will have height and reach advantages again.

The UFC is putting their poster boy in a fight that is truly risky, and for that both McGregor and the UFC deserve credit.  If McGregor does win he will move into the rarified territory of two weight class world champion, putting him in there with individually wrapped cheese and sliced bread as things that are “the real deal”.

UFC 197 Opening Odds: Holm 30to 1 Favorite over Tate

Holly Holm will enter this fight with a lot of pressure on her.  Depsite nearly forty boxing matches and the cool demeanor she displayed throughout the build-up to the Rousey fight and after, she has never experienced what she is about to experience in terms of “hype”.  Holm will be the focus of attention this time around.  In Tate, she is facing Rousey’s top foil over the years, and Tate is going to be re-invigorated at the new opportunity.  Holm put on a clinic on striking and spacing against Rousey, she will more likely be in a fight against Tate.
