UFC 201 Main Card Odds

UFC 201 Main Card Odds – The UFC 201 pay-per-view comes to us this Saturday, July 20th, from the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia with a UFC welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and challenger Tyron Woodley in the main event.

Lawler is really looking like he is growing into the championship role, and he has been a very confident champion since grabbing the belt from Johny Hendicks back in December of 2014. This will be his third defense and he is going to enter the fight a 2-to-1 favorite to retain. Woodley is 15-3 overall and he has won two fights in a row. Woodley has not fought since January of 2015 so he is coming off an 18-month layoff right into a title fight. Lawler is going to be in a situation where he has a ton more experience, especially in fights of five rounds where Woodley has no experience.

The co-feature comes in the women’s strawweight division, as popular Rose Namajunas returns as a favorite to face Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Kowalkiewicz sports a perfect 9-0 record and she is 2-0 in the UFC already, but Namajunas has paid her dues since appearing on “The Ultimate Fighter” television reality show. A win here would give her a fourth win in a row and put her firmly in the title picture at 115 pounds. Kowalkiewicz has a loss in MMA as an amateur to UFC champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and she is in the UFC to try and earn a rematch.

Matt Brown and Jake Ellenberger is a fight between two guys looking to save their jobs. Brown is 1-3 in his last four and Ellenberger is 1-5 in his last six, so the loser here will probably be out of a job. For Ellenberger, it will be the same old story, and that is can he finish explosively fast, and if not, will he gas out as the fight extends itself. Ellenberger has never quite overcome that bug a boo. As for Brown, the seven fight winning streak that he rode into title contention is a thing of the past.

Also on the main card is Flyweight action as Ian McCall, known as “Uncle Creepy” faces off against Justin Scoggins. Scoggins has quietly worked his UFC record up to 4-2 overall and a win here would give him three victories in a row. As for Uncle Creepy, he went the distance in a loss last time out, to John Lineker, who has since gone on to success at bantamweight. That fight came in January of 2015 so McCall is coming off a long layoff as well heading into this one.
