UFC 205 Undercard Odds – The UFC’s biggest show ever is this Saturday, November 12th in New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden. The show is headlined by the lightweight title fight between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor and that fight is supported by the best card in UFC history.
Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar faces Jeremy Stephens in a featherweight match-up. Edgar (20-5-1) last fought in July when he took a disappointing loss to Jose Aldo for an interim version of the featherweight belt. Prior to that, Edgar had been on a five-fight winning streak that had seen him chew through the rest of the weight class elite fighters including Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes. Stephens is 2-3 in his last five fights, but he last fought in May when he defeated former bantamweight champion Renan Barao.
A lightweight clash features Michael Johnson vs Kabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov is 7-0 in the UFC and a perfect 23-0 overall in MMA and he should by all rights be facing Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt, not Conor McGregor. The UFC likely made it up to him on his paycheck, because the elite Nurmagomedov didn’t say much about being on the undercard after initially complaining about not getting the title shot. Johnson is a bit of an underachiever who has fought only once in 2016. In that fight, he scored a big KO win over surging Dustin Poirier in the first round. If Johnson is on top of his game he could test the “Eagle.”
In the middleweight division, former light heavyweight UFC champion Rashad Evans faces rugged Tim Kennedy as he makes his debut at 185 lbs. Evans is on a two-fight losing streak that make his appearance in a new weight class a do-or-die situation for him. In Kennedy, he gets an elite 185-lber who is coming off a loss to Yoel Romero, who is on the main card.
The night will open with action in the women’s bantamweight division as veteran Liz Carmouche returns to face Katlyn Chookagian. It is interesting to note that of the 13 fights booked for UFC 205, three of them come in the women’s divisions. Chookagian is the prospect here, as the fighter from New Jersey has compiled an 8-0 overall record, including a win in her UFC debut last July when she defeated Lauren Murphy.
