UFC 215 PPV Odds For Saturday – The UFC is north of the border this weekend as they bring us the UFC 215 PPV live from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Here we review the UFC 215 PPV Odds.
The main event sees flyweight world champion Demetrius Johnson return to action to defend his belt against Ray Borg. This will be title defense number twelve for Johnson, who has dominated the 125 pound division for five years now.
Johnson is a little bit of a problem for the UFC. He is their longest reigning champion and his technical prowess sees him ranked as the#1 P4P MMA fighter out there, but as a flyweight he has been deemed as unmarketable. The UFC would like to slide Johnson into a superfight but there really is no one who is a natural fit as an opponent for “DJ.”
We are left with Ray Borg for this one. Borg is in this fight on the strength of a run of five wins in six fights in the UFC. Borg also lost his UFC debut, making him 5-2 on the big show and 11-2 overall. Johnson has more experience in his little left toe than that and the line reflects that. Look for Johnson to dominate again.
The women’s bantamweight title is on the line as champion Amanda Nunes faces Valentina Shevchenko in a rematch. The two first met at UFC 196 and Nunes won the unanimous decision, however, to say a lot has happened to the two women since then is a major understatement.
Nunes parlayed her win over Shevchenko into a title shot against then belt holder Meisha Tate and Nunes made good, submitting Tate and grabbing the 135-pound UFC title. In December she faced Ronda Rousey upon the ex-champ’s return and Nunes wiped out Rousey in less than a minute.
Shevchenko earned her rematch and title shot with a three-fight winning streak that includes a win over another135-poundd former titleholder, Holly Holm. The rematch between the two is interesting because their first encounter went the distance and was the last time we saw Nunes tested. Shevchenko has a chance to be the first Russian to capture UFC gold.
It is safe to say the UFC counted on Rousey and Holm to bring attention to the women’s weight classes and they did not envision having Nunes and Shevchenko at the top of the weight class.
The PPV card also counts on the presence of former lightweights Rafael Dos Anjos and Gilbert Melendez as both top guns explore different weight classes. Dos Anjos is now in the welterweight division as he faces Neil Magny while Melendez has dropped to featherweight to take on veteran Jeremy Stephens.
With the unsung Johnson and a pair of relative newcomers to the top ranks of the women in the headline spots do not expect UFC 215 to sell many PPVs.
