UFC 224 The third fightevent on the UFC 224 main card Amanda Cooper vs. Mackenzie Dern just finished up and Mackenzie Dern moves to 7-0 with a rear naked choke of Amanda Cooper with a submission in the first round.
Round 1
The first round started out with Amanda Cooper trying to establish her striking but she was immediately met with an overhand right by Mackenzie Dern. Mackenzie’s standup looked somewhat awkward and unrefined, but she was really looking for that overhand right and the third time she threw it she connected really well, dropping Amanda Cooper to the ground. Cooper landed flat on her back and Dern went straight to mount. Mackenzie Dern threw a little bit of ground and pound and Amanda Cooper turned her back allowing Dern to sink in and get the rear naked choke to finish the fight
Conclusion
After yesterdays weigh ins at 7 pounds over everyone was interested to see how Amanda Cooper would come out and she did not seem as fearsome as she did in her pre fight intereviews. So Mackenzie Dern moves to 7-0 making short work of Amanda Cooper with a submission in the first round. It will be interesting to see how she does with a high level competitor at 115 pounds.
