UFC 225 PPV Odds For Saturday

UFC 225 PPV Odds

UFC 225 PPV Odds -The UFC’s 185 pound middleweight title is up for grabs as Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker clash for the second time this Saturday.

The first time the two met the division’s interim belt was up for grabs, while this Saturday sees Whittaker defending the belt. Whittaker has not fought since that July of 2017 encounter with Romero, while Romero scored a KO win over Luke Rockhold to line-up this rematch.

Romero is a physical specimen who has explosion and power to go with a high level wrestling background. The main issue with Romero is that he enters this fight at 41 years old, a full fourteen years older than Whittaker. The Australian born Whittaker is the first ever UFC champion from “Down Under” and you can bet that he will be motivated after 11 months off.  Ring rust has a tendency to forget fighters with youth on their side and Whittaker is just entering his prime.

It is literally now or never for Romero and since he lost the first meeting, it is on him to make the adjustments necessary in this second meeting.

The welterweight co-feature comes to us with a lot of hype courtesy of Colby Covington. Covington (13-1) is riding a strong 5 fight winning streak into this one, where he faces former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos (28-9). The contrast between the two is stark, as the veteran Dos Anjos has always done most of his talking in the ring. Dos Anjos represents far and away Covington’s toughest test to date so we will see if Colby can back up the talk against a real pro this Saturday.

Former bantamweight queenpin Holly Holm returns at featherweight to take on Megan Anderson. Holm is favored to win but even a victory might see her try a return to 135 pounds for a fight with Amanda Nunes. Holm and her camp did not get “in” with UFC brass but in Holm they have a good soldier who is looking to take on the biggest challenges around. Holm vs Nunes could leave Holm as the first 2x champion in women’s history. Maybe then she will get the respect she deserves.

Former heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski is still hanging on and he is riding a two fight winning streak heading into his fight with Tai Tuivasa. Tuivasa is 7-0 with all of his wins coming by KO so Arlovski’s big glass head must seem like an inviting target. Arlovski has learned to protect his chin and his last two wins have come by way of UD, meaning he has a chance if he can extend Tuivasa.

Kicking off the PPV is the UFC freak show that is CM Punk. The former pro wrestler embarassed himself in his UFC debut to fall to 0-1 in MMA and here he gets a second chance against Michael Jackson, a fighter who is also 0-1. Punk is in a really bad spot here, because most people want to see him get train wrecked again. What does it mean for us if he happens to win, do we get to shell out more PPV money to see this guy?
