The UFC on FOX 15 card is coming to us this weekend from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. with a main event of Lyoto Machida versus Luke Rockhold. It is a middleweight fight with potential title implications, as the winner will have a strong case for the next title shot in the middleweight division.
Another fighter who has already built a solid case for a middleweight title shot is Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Unfortunately for Jacare, his co-main event fight with Cuban wrestler Yoel Romero has fallen by the wayside. Instead he gets a rematch with Chris Camozzi in a fight that has Jacare a massive favorite. Romero’s injury comes with six days notice, so Camozzi deserves credit for stepping in to a tough spot.
At featherweight on the main card, Max Holloway takes on Cub Swanson. Holloway is on a nice five-fight winning streak since his loss to Conor McGregor where he took the Irishman the distance, while Swanson is looking to bounce back after dropping his last fight to Frankie Edgar.
At lightweight, Beniel Dariush gets a step up fight to face veteran Jim Miller, who’s fighting near his hometown base. In the ladies strawweight division, Paige Van Zant takes on Felice Herrig in a match between two women with (1-0) UFC records. Both also have a common opponent in Tecia Torres, and both lost to her, and it is Herrig that has more experience that the 21-year-old Van Zant overall.
