UFC on FOX 27 Undercard Odds – The UFC on FOX 27 card comes to us live from North Carolina this Saturday night. The four main bouts will air on the FOX broadcast, with the undercard airing on Fox Sports 1 and on the UFC’s Fight Pass.
A lightweight showdown between veterans Eric Koch and Bobby Green is in the main event spot on Fox Sports 1.
Very simply put, Green is trying to recapture the momentum he started his UFC run with. He reeled off four wins in a row with the big show before tasting defeat at the hands of Edson Barbosa back in November of 2014. He took all of 2015 off and is 0-2-1 since then. That is not good and he is in dire need of a win.
Koch entered the UFC and won two fights in a row. He then lost two fights in a row and he has alternated wins and losses ever since. In his last fight this past June he took a loss to long in the tooth veteran Clay Guida.
The quality of the UFC on FOX cards has been on the decline for a while since the start of the run. The card was also supposed to feature a light heavyweight bout between Ilir Latifi and Ovince St Preux but that bout was cancelled due to an injury on the part of Latifi.
The undercard here is heavy on fights in the women’s divisions as there are three on the card. That is a good thing. The UFC has been dabbling in the women’s divisions for several years but it is only recently that they have committed to opening new weight classes. The women need to compete and be active just like the men and more fights is a must.
The two women’s fights set to air on FS1 feature bantamweight and strawweight action. A second strawweight bout is scheduled for the UFC Fight Pass portion of the broadcast.
At 135 pounds, Mara Romero Borella is a slight underdog to Katlyn Chookagian. Borella (12-4) is entering her second UFC bout as she made a successful debut this past October. From Italy, Borella is an x-factor that could open a new market for the UFC with continued success. Chookagian (9-1) has slightly more UFC experience, having gone 2-1 thus far on the big show.
Strawweights Juliana Lima and Randa Markos are set to meet. Both women have logged more than half a dozen fights with the UFC and both of them have failed to put together a consistent streak in the octagon. Both women are coming off losses and the UFC may be looking to cut one of them from the roster.
The Fight Pass bout sees Justine Kish taking on Korea’s Ji Yeon Kim. Kish started her UFC run off with two straight wins but she dropped her last fight to Felicia Herrig. Kim entered the UFC undefeated and she promptly lost her UFC debut.
