New rules set out by the NCAA allow underclassmen declared for the NBA Draft to return to school following the NBA Combine, provided that they haven’t hired an agent or accepted any gifts that would compromise their eligibility.
This means the number of underclassmen declared for the NBA Draft is exponentially higher than in years passed. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the names who have made their initial intentions known, moving on to the small forwards:
DeAndre’ Bembry, St. Joseph’s, Jr.
Jaron Blossomgame, Clemson, Jr.
Trevon Bluiett, Xavier, Soph.
Dedric Lawson, Memphis, Fr.
Charles Matthews, Kentucky, Fr.
Troy Williams, Indiana, Jr.
The top names in this group would have to be Trevon Bluiett and Troy Williams because of their proven ability to compete and produce at a high level for a high level program. However, one has to think that DeAndre’ Bembry will give NBA GMs a lot to think about as the first round carries on. Bembry put 30 and 23 points on VCU and Cincinnati in the Atlantic 10 and NCAA Tournaments to close out his season on fire.
