It has certainly been a trying couple of months for Manchester United and its fans for several different reasons. The latest might surprise even the casual fan.
Several Manchester United players are reportedly being investigated by club officials after rumors surfaced regarding the making of an alleged sex tape involving a member of the team in a nightclub. According to reports, a woman was filmed “carrying out an intimate act” on one of the club’s “international stars” in a bathroom. Teammates captured the escapades on camera while filming over the top of the door.
The Red Devils have yet to comment on the allegations and while there will be more details to follow, this certainly isn’t the first sex scandal that has rocked English soccer. With United having fun in nightclubs bathrooms, it reminded us of some of the other more lurid moments in EPL history.

Dwight Yorke’s Trash Is The Media’s Treasure
Once upon a time in 1998, it was United’s Dwight Yorke and Aston Villa’s Mark Bosnich that got together with four women to film a sex tape that involved cross dressing and several very unique positions – including Bosnich being spanked while wearing a skirt. Nobody would have been the wiser had the tape been destroyed but Yorke threw the tape in the garbage and a reporter ended up getting his hands on it. The scandal didn’t necessarily ruin either player’s career but it did provide some memorable visuals that both players were taunted for over the coming years.
John Terry, Team Player
Back in 2009, it was revealed that John Terry had an affair with his former Chelsea teammate Wayne Bridge’s ex-girlfriend while he was still married and the two were playing together. Awkward. The fourth-month affair allegedly occurred soon after Bridge parted ways with his ex and led to him retiring from the International team, citing his position with the team as “untenable”. Terry has denied the incident but he was temporarily stripped of England’s captaincy and several fellow players came forward with comments that – at least on the surface – seemed to give some indication the scandal did happen.
The Coles Note On Ashley’s Exploits
Another Chelsea man to make this list is the longtime star defender Cole, who after marrying Cheryl Tweedy, couldn’t seem to keep it in his pants. Several women came forward with allegations of sexual relations with Cole during the time he was married from 2006-10 and following their separation in 2010, stories surfaced that a pair of models had received x-rated photos and rude text messages from Cole. A total of five different women made allegations against Cole during the time of his marriage and several since, but truth be told it hasn’t appeared to hurt his soccer career one bit.
Ryan Giggs’ Side Gigs
One of the most successful players in British soccer history was also involved in a sex scandal when in May of 2011 he was called out with accusations of adultery. The British High Court banned the press from publishing Giggs’ name in respect to an alleged affair with former Miss Wales Imogen Thomas, but that claim for anonymity was blown when a member of the British Parliament unintentionally admitted it was Giggs who had filed for the gag order. Those allegations were soon overshadowed by an alleged affair Giggs had with his brother’s wife Natasha with the Mirror going as far as to report that Giggs paid for her to have an abortion when she became pregnant. While he is still a Premier League icon, there is no mistaking Giggs’ reputation now with what it once was.
Wayne Rooney’s Pay For Play
A man among boys in terms of his reputation for sex scandals, Rooney has admitted to frequenting massage parlors and in some cases has even been recorded on CCTV. There has been no shortage of stories whether about fans gathering outside a brothel – even chanting his name on one occasion when he was recognized. And there was a story of an encounter with a prostitute that also happened to be a grandmother.
Rooney has apologized to his fiancée and she has since become his wife, but in light of recent reports that he paid two women to have a threesome with him, it’s clear that he has not learned his lesson.
