Washington Capitals

The Capitals finally beat Pittsburgh after losing to them in each of the last two postseasons as they took out the two-time defending champions in six games. Alex Ovechkin had three goals and four assists for seven points, while Evgeny Kusnetsov added three goals and three assists, including the series winner. The Capitals should be concerned over Nicklas Backstron, who missed Game 6 with a hand injury. The Capitals will be keeping a close eye on that heading into their opener with the Lightning. Braden Holtby allowed 13 goals in six games with a save percentage of .921. He’ll have to be even better against the Lightning.
