Video Blog: A Look Ahead to Bellator 138

The Bellator 138 event scheduled for St Louis on June 19 has had its main event of Kimbo Slice versus Ken Shamrock announced and in the public for a long time now.  With the fight roughly five weeks away, Bellator has released the complete lineup of 14 scheduled fights.  Still, it remains to be seen if the books will open lines on this card sooner than they usually do for Bellator events.

The Shamrock vs. Slice fight pits two 40 year olds against each other and is not really very appealing to fight purists, but to the casual or cross-over fan the name recognition will certainly get there attention.  Also on the card is pro wrestler Bobby Lashley, as he takes a break from the TnA Wrestling ring to extend his MMA career, and he will be trying to avenge a previous loss to England’s James Thompson.

That would be the sideshow portion of the Bellator 138 card, but the main card has some serious fights on it.  The co-main event of the evening is a featherweight title defense for champion Patricio Freire as he defends his title against Germany’s tough Daniel Weichel.  Former featherweight champion Daniel Straus begins his road back after losing the title as he takes on undefeated Henry Corrales, who is making his Bellator debut with a 12-0 record on the smaller show circuit.  Another former champion, lightweight Michael Chandler attempts to snap a three-fight losing streak while facing Derek Campos (15-4).

In this latest video blog, we examine the main card fights for Bellator’s upcoming Bellator 138.
