Virginia Cavaliers – Butler Bulldogs Preview – 03.19.2016

The No.1-seeded Virginia Cavaliers (27-7) and No.9-seeded Butler Bulldogs (22-10) get together in the second round of the NCAA tournament at PNC Arena. Action gets underway at 7:10 pm ET on Saturday, Mar. 19 and can be seen on TBS.

The Cavaliers played well in their last game, blowing out Hampton 81-45 in the First Round. Anthony Gill was the game’s leading scorer with 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, are coming off a 71-61 win over Texas Tech in the First Round. Kellen Dunham shot 8-for-15 and led in scoring with 23 points.

Dunham has been on fire for the Bulldogs, averaging 20.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 3.8 three-pointers over the past five games.

Based on each team’s statistical profile, ball protection could play an integral role in this matchup. Virginia commits the eighth-fewest miscues in the nation (TO% of 15.2%), while Butler’s pesky defense forces the 25th-most (opponents’ TO% of 19.0%). Also, the Bulldogs’s 16th-ranked offense (offensive efficiency of 115.9) will face off against the 16th-ranked defense of the Cavaliers (defensive efficiency of 97.6).
