It’s night three of the live playoffs on The Voice and by the end of this recap, we’ll know who is Top 12 for next week.
Tonight, it’s Team Kelly kicking it off and the final contestants who are vying for a spot in the Top 12 are:
Kaleb Lee: He is singing “Die a Happy Man.” I’m waiting for him to bust it out because the beginning is quite low and slow. It picks up a bit but overall I thought it was lukewarm. He has a great country voice, but I think he could’ve powered this or another song a bit more to show his range and talent. Kelly is screaming for Kaleb and chants “I love my team!”
Alexa Cappelli: She’s singing “Stop and Stare.” I think Alexa needs a little help on enunciation, but I love the tone of her voice. She’s really powering this song and sounds great. Kelly cries for her. Note to Voice producers: Never let Kelly Clarkson go.
D.R. King: Singing “All on My Mind,” I’ve said it before that I don’t like when he sings low. Once he goes a little higher, he sounds so much better tome.
Dylan Hartigan: Singing “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.” I really like his voice on this song. He seems so comfortable on this song too.
Tish Haynes Keys: Closing out Team Kelly, Tish is singing “At Last.” Do we need to say more? It actually wasn’t my favorite version of the song, but she did it justice.
Team Adam is up next:
Reid Umstattd: Singing “Long Tall Women in a Black Dress.” I like this song choice for his voice. Adam stands for Reid and tells him it’s an “old school, rock and roll classic performance.”
Drew Cole: Singing “Wild Horses,” Drew is one of my favorites in this competition. Adam thought it was ‘so so so good.”
Jackie Verna: Performing “Once,” Jackie has such a stage presence about her. She knocks the song out of the park, of course. All four judges are standing for Jackie. Adam says he’s ‘beaming with pride,” and calls her ‘one in a billion.”
Mia Boostrom: Singing “Either Way,” Mia is one of my favorites too. If you ask me, Mia is the caliber of Adele. As soon as she starts singing, I’m sucked in. She got a little pitchy in this song, but she sounded great. Adam says that Mia has beaten the odds over and over again.
Rayshun Lamar: Singing “I’m Going Down,” Rayshun just has a ton of fun on the stage. Adam tells him, “if only you could have a little more energy,” and tells him “You just won the week.”
