Washington State News: Mike Leach Doles Out Some Helpful Advice

Mike Leach has been one of the most colorful characters in college football over the last two decades. Leach doesn’t stick to the script and give dull non-statements like so many other coaches, and that was on full display during his press conference Monday. The Washington State head coach was in rare form, doling out numerous maxims that left everyone laughing.

After starting off his regularly scheduled press conference talking about Washington State’s comfortable win over New Mexico State in Week 1, Leach went way off topic. First, he nonchalantly transitioned into a speech on why the “plan” to storm Area 51 on September 20 was a bad idea. The event started as a joke back in mid-June, but it blew up on social media and now everyone is wondering just how many people will follow through. Trying to visit a top secret government site is not the wisest idea, and Leach highlighted just one of the many problems:

“No, I don’t think that would be a good idea because then they just might test out the stuff they’re testing on you to ensure that you don’t get in there. Our government lately has shown some resistance to enforcing laws around this country to the detriment of its citizens. I suspect those wouldn’t be laws that they chose not to enforce.”

Leach then pivoted into what he thought would be a better idea. With Burning Man still fresh in everyone’s mind, he let it be known that a second Burning Man outside of football season would be a great plan. The quirky coach told reporters that he would love to go to the event, but it always takes place during football season.

After his comments blew up on social media earlier today, Leach responded in the only way he knows.
