Here is tonight’s MLB Super Seven and Sleeper picks that is among the most diversified that we have used this season. Today’s prices are from Draft Kings.
P – Sonny Gray – Oakland
$8,700 is the price for Gray. The A’s are at the Los Angeles Angels at 9:05 p.m. ET. The A’s are 4-4 on the road so far this year and are getting better than expected run production, ranking 8th in MLB for that category. After all of Oakland general manager Billy Beane’s moves in the offseason, Gray was left over as the number one start and has gotten off to a promising start with a 2.11 ERA and a WHIP of 0.98.
C – Buster Posey – San Francisco
$3,600 is the price for Posey. The Giants host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 9:15 p.m. ET. The Giants are going up against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, who is off to a less than stellar start with a 4.42 ERA and WHIP of 1.53. Kershaw has surrendered a .297 batting average so far on the season along with three home runs and nine earned runs in 18 innings of work. Posey is far below his career numbers with a modest .250 batting average and OPS of .699. We see plenty of potential upside for Posey tonight.
1B – Victor Martinez – Detroit
$4,800 is the price for Martinez. The Tigers will host the New York Yankees at 6:08 p.m. ET. The Yankees pitching staff has been abysmal with a ranking of 29th in quality starts and their defense is among the worst in the game with a rank of 29th for errors. Yankee starter Adam Warren has surrendered a .297 batting average with two home runs in 9.1 innings of work. Warren’s ERA is at 4.82. Martinez is far below his career OPS of .847 with a current .699 and is yet to homer with just one double on the season. A ticking time bomb.
2B – Jedd Gyorko – San Diego
$4,200 is the price for Gyorko. The Padres are at the Colorado Rockies with a starting time of 8:40 p.m. ET. So far the Padres are living up to the preseason hype with a 10-5 record and a significantly improved offense that ranks third in MLB for run production. Rockies starter Kyle Kendrick has been shelled for a 7.56 ERA to start the season with 22 hits and four home runs allowed in 16.2 innings of work.
3B – Ryan Zimmerman – Washington
$4,300 is the price for Zimmerman. The Nationals host the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:05 p.m. ET. Zimmerman is far below his career batting average of .285 with a current average of .204. His on base percentage of .295 is far below his career mark of .295. It does take some nerve to go up against Cardinals starter John Lackey but we will make the bargain buy as Zimmerman is due.
SS – Elvis Andrus – Texas
$3,900 is the price for Andrus. The Rangers are at the Arizona Diamondbacks at 9:40 p.m. ET. Andrus is another bargain buy that is overdue to bust out. Andrus has a batting average of just .183 and an on base percentage of only .180 which is far below his career numbers of a .271 batting average and an on base percentage of .333.
OF – Lorenzo Cain – Kansas City
$4,700 is the price for Cain. The Royals host the Minnesota Twins at 8:10 p.m. ET. Cain has been the Royals best hitter with a .380 batting average, .457 on base percentage, and an OPS of 1.067. Cain has five doubles, two home runs, 12 runs and 12 RBI to spark a great Kansas City start of 11-3. Twins starter Mike Pelfrey has a 4.50 ERA with 10 hits, five walks, and two home runs allowed. Minnesota ranks 27th for staff ERA.
Sleeper – Gregory Polanco – Pittsburgh
$4,100 is the price for Polanco. The Pirates will host the Chicago Cubs at 7:05 p.m. ET. Cubs starter Jason Hammel has a poor 5.11 ERA and has surrendered a current batting average of .300 with a WHIP of 1.30. Polanco is off to a quiet start with a .278 on base percentage, .327 slugging percentage, and OPS of .605 with no home runs. We’ll take a shot with Polanco against the struggling Hammel.
