Half of my six fantasy arms to target last week stepped up to the plate in big ways. Joe Musgrove is now solidified within Pittsburgh’s starting rotation, and is nearly 50 percent owned. If still available on your league’s waiver sire, snag him! Ryan Yarbrough and Wade LeBlanc also put forth solid efforts in their lone appearance. Dan Straily struggled in his lone spot, but I still believe him to be a solid streamer in the right matchups. Nate Jones didn’t have a single save opportunity, while Carlos Rodon is expected to come off the DL this weekend in Boston. Get these six hurlers on your roster by way of trade or waiver wire for Week 10.
RP Seranthony Dominguez (Philadelphia Phillies) – The Phillies supposed set-up man found himself on this list a couple week’s back. I stated then that it’s only a matter of time until he takes the closer job away from Hector Neris. Well, it looks like that time has come. The Phillies haven’t had many recent save opportunities, but the last time they did, it was Dominguez Gabe Kapler called upon instead of Neris to close the door for Aaron Nola. The save was also of the two-inning variety, and that’s starting to become common place in fantasy baseball. Just take a look at what’s going down in Milwaukee with Josh Hader if you don’t believe me. The kids got an electric arm, and it’s one you’ll want on your roster the remainder of the season!
⚠️ BATTERS BEWARE ⚠️

SP Daniel Mengden (Oakland A’s) – Mengden found himself on the watch list last week. Boy do I wish I recommended him as a fantasy arm to add instead! After tossing a complete game shutout against the D’backs last week, he followed it up with another eight innings of 3 ER ball allowed against the Rays. He tallied wins in both outings to move to 4-0 in his last four starts to cement himself as the ace of Oakland’s pitching staff. He’s got impeccable control in walking less than a batter per nine innings, and has gone six-plus innings in each of his last five starts. Those outputs shouldn’t have him currently owned in less than 70 percent of ESPN leagues!
RP/SP Mike Montgomery (Chicago Cubs) – Yu Darvish has been a major disappointment so much so that “Cubs Nation:” has booed him in his home starts. His unfortunate demise and recent injury that placed him on the DL has opened the door for Montgomery to take advantage. In his two starts to date, he’s allowed just four hits and 1 ER with a 9:1 K/BB ratio. Those outputs are tasty, especially when pitching for a team sitting 10 games over the breakeven point.
SP Anthony DeSclafani (Cincinnati Reds) – DeSclafani hasn’t pitched since 2016 when he was forced to get shut down for Tommy John surgery. It’s been a long road to recovery for the right-hander, but if his arm is in good shape, he could be a major boon to your fantasy roster the rest of the way. In his last full season in the bigs, he went 9-5 and logged a 3.28 ERA and 105/30 K/BB ratio. He’s got a live arm that should be treated with patience as he makes his way back onto a Major League roster.
SP Marco Gonzales (Seattle Mariners) – How is this guy only owned in less than 39 percent of ESPN leagues? He’s 6-3 with a 3.38 ERA and has only allowed 70 hits through 66.2 innings of work! While the K rate is blah (8.0), his 2.0 walk rate is amongst the best in the league. Each of his last three outings have been of quality, and he’s proving to be an innings eater for the AL West leading Mariners. Don’t forget, he’s hot Edwin Diaz closing things out in the ninth!
RP Kyle Barraclough (Miami Marlins) – If you’re in a deep league and sorely in need of some cheap saves, Barraclough should already be on your fantasy roster. Don Mattingly stripped closing duties away from Brad Ziegler due to ineffectiveness, and inserted Barraclough in his stead. His K and strand rates are top notch, but they come with command issues. Again, pay no attention in shallow leagues, but scoop him up if that isn’t the case.
Add To Watch List: Vince Velasquez, Frankie Montas, Nathan Eovaldi, Clay Buchholz, Shelby Miller
