In this Sunday NFC game, Chicago is getting picked as the favorite and the team’s currently giving up 6 points. The Packers are also receiving +190 moneyline odds while the Bears are -230. This NFC matchup should provide several decent live betting scenarios, and oddsmakers have set the over/under (O/U) at 45.5 points.
Sharp bettors have been leaning toward both the Bears and the under. The opening line was originally set at -4 while the over/under was initially 46.5.
The underwhelming Packers are 5-7-1 against the spread (ATS) and have lost 10.1 units so far in 2018. The team’s posted an O/U mark of 7-6. The Bears have gained 3.0 units for moneyline bettors this season. They’re 9-4 ATS and the over’s hit in eight of their games.
The Packers are an ugly 5-7-1 straight up (SU), including 1-2 SU against NFC North opponents. The Bears are 9-4 SU overall and 3-1 SU against divisional foes.
The Packers are coming off a resounding 34-20 victory over Atlanta last week. The Packers defense allowed the Falcons to run for 107 yards on 24 rush attempts. Offensively, Aaron Rodgers completed 21 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Jones (78 yards on 17 rush attempts, one TD) provided the running attack while Davante Adams (seven receptions, 81 yards, one TD) and Randall Cobb (five catches, 43 yards, one TD) manned the receiving duties in the win.
Chicago just earned a 15-6 win over the Rams a week ago. Mitchell Trubisky completed 16-of-30 passes for 110 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Jordan Howard (101 yards on 19 rush attempts) and Tarik Cohen (69 yards on nine carries) spearheaded the running game while Allen Robinson II (five receptions, 42 yards) and Cohen (four catches, 20 yards) led the pass-catching corps in the win.
Green Bay’s run the ball on 35.8 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Chicago has a rush percentage of 46.6 percent. The Packers have run for 108 yards/game (including 87 per game versus North opponents) and have 10 scores on the ground this year. The Bears are totaling 121 rushing yards per game (95 in conference) and have 11 total rush TDs.
It seems like the Bears should have the advantage along both the offensive and defensive fronts. Their offensive line has given up only 29 sacks while the D-line has registered 40 sacks. The Packers O-line has allowed 41 sacks and their defense has logged only 40 sacks.
The Packers offensive scheme has averaged 289 yards in the air overall (316 per game versus conference opposition) and has 23 passing scores so far. The Bears have put up 239 pass yards per outing (232.3 against NFC competition) and have 25 total pass TDs.
Defensively, Green Bay has let opponents run for an average of 126 yards and throw for 248 yards per game. The Chicago defense has allowed 246.7 yards per game to opposing passers and 83.2 yards per game to opposing runners. The Bears are allowing an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of only 4.14 to opponents, while the Packers have given up a 6.48 ANY/A.
Offensively, Rodgers has amassed 3,467 passing yards this season, and has completed 62 percent of his 445 attempts with 22 scores through the air and only one interception. Rodgers has a 7.44 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number sits at 5.16 over the past two games.
Davante Adams (1,103 receiving yards, 11 receiving touchdowns on the year), Aaron Jones (684 rush yards, seven rush TDs, 190 receiving yards, one receiving TD) and Randall Cobb (301 receiving yards, two TDs) have each played big roles recently.
Chase Daniel has completed 53-of-76 passes for 515 yards, three TDs and two INTs for Chicago. His ANY/A stands at 5.24 for the season and 4.25 across his last two games.
We’re looking for the Bears to control tempo by pounding the defense with their running backs. Allen Robinson II (536 receiving yards, four TDs this season) has stepped up lately, but Tarik Cohen (354 rush yards, two rush TDs, 523 receiving yards, four receiving TDs) and Jordan Howard (637 rush yards, five rush TDs) have really been key factors in the Chicago offense.
