Weekend Boxing Odds: Julio Chesar Chavez Seeks WBC Lightweight Title Against Andrzej Fonfara

This Saturday, both HBO and SHOWTIME are offering a double dose of big time boxing. Second-generation boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. takes on Andrzej Fonfara for the vacant WBC international title at light heavyweight as the main event on Showtime from the StubHub Center.  Chavez, who has not fought in over a year and has just two bouts under his belt in the last three years, enters this fight with a lot of questions.  He is moving up in weight classes all the way to light heavyweight and it will be interesting to see how he handles the change.

On HBO, two bouts will air from two different locations in the U.S.  The feature bout comes to use from Verona, N.Y. as Ruslan Provodnikov faces off against Lucas Martin Matthysse in a bout between two men looking to get into the big money at 140 lbs.  The hard-hitting Matthysse has been talked about as opponent for some big names and may be up next for Adrien Broner with a win here.  Meanwhile Provodnikov is trying to bounce back from a near career-derailing loss to Chris Algieri.

HBO also has the super lightweight bout from the University of Texas between Terence Crawford and Thomas Dulorme.  This is the first fight of 2015 for the undefeated (25-0) Crawford, who is making the move from lightweight to super lightweight. The fight is for the vacant WBO World Super Lightweight title, as Crawford recently held the WBO title in the lightweight division.
