Video Blog: Weekend Combat Sports Picks, Featuring UFC 183 and Boxing

Rugby star turned boxer Sonny Bill Williams is fighting the experienced American Chauncy Welliver this weekend.

After a few slow weeks as the calendar year kicked off, we are back with another edition of the weekend combat sports betting blog.

Our veteran blogger Miguel Iturrate has about $2,300 in his fictitious bankroll, and he is looking at the boxing match in Australia featuring all-world rugby player Sonny Bill Williams. Of course there is also the much-awaited UFC 183 in Las Vegas, which is headlined by the Nick Diaz vs Anderson Silva main event. The entire UFC 183 card from top to bottom is packed with a lot of middleweight fights.  The line for Silva (-400) over Diaz has been pretty fixed for a while now, but it bears watching as Diaz has a following and some action may come in day of the fight.  A word to the wise however, Diaz has already missed a flight and a workout in the build up, so pick Diaz at your own risk.

In boxing, Williams is facing the experienced Chauncy Welliver (55-10-5) in a match that sees Williams return to the ring for the first time in two years.  Williams, a super athlete type who could be someone to watch if he starts to fight more consistently.  Welliver is more suited to the buffet line than a boxing ring at this point.
