Weekend Combat Sports Picks: Rockhold Looks To Keep Momentum Going Over Machida

Luke Rockhold enters as the favorite over Lyoto Machida in this weekend's UFC on Fox 15.

This weekend is packed with high level boxing and MMA events at the sportbooks.  In the world of MMA, the UFC on FOX 15 comes to us from New Jersey with a card headlined by the Lyoto Machida versus Luke Rockhold middleweight bout.  It is a fight between two of the top Middleweights in the world today, though there is the feeling that Rockhold is surging while Machida has fallen back to the pack a little bit.  Both men are looking to parlay a win into another title opportunity.

Boxing is high on the agenda as HBO features a double header of matches.  The first bout sees Argentina’s Lucas Martin Matthysse in a tough fight against Ruslan Provodnikov.  Matthysse has been around the top of the game for a long time but has not broken through to become a household name yet.  In Provodnikov, he is facing a fighter who is still trying to rehabilitate his name after taking a career-threatening loss to Chris Algieiri.  The second bout of the double header sees undefeated (25-0) Terence Crawford taking on the challenge of Thomas Dulorme (22-1).  That fight is for the vacant WBO super lightweight belt as Crawford looks to add a second WBO world title to his resume to go with the one he has at lightweight.  Dulorme is a solid boxer who has won six straight fights since losing to Luis Carlos Abregu (33-1) back in October of 2012 in a welterweight bout.
