Weekly Five: Tonight’s Big 10 Battle Between Wisconsin and Maryland Headlines Games of the Week

Frank Kaminsky and Bronson Koenig lead the Badgers into College Park to take on the Terps.

Marquee match ups litter the college basketball landscape this week, as conference races enter the home stretch.

While the weekend line-up is typically strong, hoops fans can be equally excited about the offerings for tonight and Wednesday. There’s nothing like a little mid-week heavyweight throw down to ease the pain of your 9-5 grind. Here are our Games of the Week.

First up is the task that Texas has in front of themselves, as they travel to Morgantown for a date with West Virginia. The Longhorns throttled WVU 77-50 earlier this season in Austin, yet since then, the two teams have gone in opposite directions, with the ‘Eers trending upwards and UT in a downward spiral. West Virginia is giving four points, and I expect them to cover.

Next up is the match up between Villanova and Providence. Kriss Dunn and LaDontae Henton have been fantastic for the Friars, but the Wildcats have been on a hot streak from beyond the arc. With the game being in Villanova, I don’t expect that to change.

The Big Ten showcases its top two teams with Wisconsin and Maryland doing battle in College Park. If the Badgers want to continue their quest for a No. 1 seed on Selection Sunday, a road win over the Terps would certainly help their cause. On the other side, this would be a marquee win for Mark Turgeon’s club.

Texas A&M travels to Arkansas, looking for a big time road win to help supplement their solid but not spectacular resume. For the Razorbacks, they’ll be looking to avoid a trap game loss before they take on Kentucky this weekend.

Finally, Baylor travels to Iowa State where the Cyclones trail Kansas by just one-half game in the Big 12 standings.
