Who Were The 4 Most Impressive Serie A Strikers From This Past Season?

Tevez was a stud for Juventus as well as fantasy owners this season.

There was no doubt about which team was the best in the Serie A this season as Juventus clinched the league title by a ridiculous 16-point margin. At the same time, they also managed to do some serious damage in the Champions League as they get ready for the upcoming final. It’s no surprise that Juventus had one of the most talented strikers in the league and while he narrowly missed out on the league scoring title, there is no doubt that he stood out among the best at his position. Here is a look at the most impressive Serie A strikers from this past season.

Carlos Tevez, Juventus

Tevez was an absolute force for Juventus both at home in the Serie A and in the Champions League as well. We already knew that he was a lethal striker that is extremely quick on the ball and doesn’t need a lot of room to score goals and fantasy GM’s that invested were not disappointed. Tevez finished the Serie A season with 20 goals, which was just one shy of earning at least a tie for the league lead, but it was the way that he rose to the occasion in big games and consistently made the difference up front for the league’s best team that made him stand out. Even though there is debate as to whether he’ll stay with the team, he’s our most impressive striker in Serie A this past season.

Luca Toni, Verona

It was the Italian international Toni that edged out Tevez for the Serie A scoring lead as he won the league scoring title with 21 goals. While he has struggled when representing his country over the years, there is no doubt about where Toni stands in terms of his production in league play. Hellas Verona did not have a particularly good season as they finished just 13th in the table and the 63 goals they allowed were the fourth-most in the Serie A. However, what fantasy owners care about is that Toni’s 21 goals were almost half of the team’s total of 47. He was the star of an otherwise very mediocre team in Verona this season.

Mauro Icardi, Internazionale

The 22-year-old striker is the second Argentine international on this list behind Tevez but he will arguably be more sought after around Europe once the transfer window opens this summer as some of the top clubs bid for his services. Icardi tied Tevez for the second most goals in the Serie A this season (20) but the percentage was more impressive. Tevez had 20 of Juventus’ 70 goals, whereas Icardi tallied 20 of Inter’s 55. With his current team looking at a major payday if they decide to move him, there is a good chance he has already played his final game for Internazionale.

Jeremy Menez, AC Milan

It was a trying season for the Rossoneri as they absolutely plummeted down the standings, finishing 10th with a meager 49 points. However, if there was one bright spot, it was the play of Menez up front. Menez scored a team-high 16 goals for Milan this season and his relative consistency throughout a terrible year for Milan helped him stand out as one of the most impressive strikers in the Serie A.

Gonzalo Higuain, Napoli

The third and final Argentine to appear on this list is Higuain, whose16 goals for Napoli narrowly edged out his teammate Manolo Gabbiadini for the team lead. Higuain had seven assists, though, which tied him for ninth most in the Serie A and ties him with Tevez for the most of anyone on this list.

Higuain will join Tevez for Argentina at the Copa America but after that, he will make his move from the Serie A to the Premier League where Manchester United has been cleared to complete his signing for 42 million euros.
