It really wasn’t any surprise to see Paris Saint-Germain dominate the Ligue 1 standings once again this past season and while rumors of player exits continue to swirl with star players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edison Cavani among those being mentioned, the reality is that the champs from France’s top division can simply reload. One player that isn’t expected to go anywhere this offseason is their goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, who managed to make our list of the top fantasy goalkeepers from Ligue 1. Here is a look at the top five fantasy goalkeepers from Ligue 1 this past season.
Daniel Subasic, AS Monaco FC
Monaco faced an uphill climb just to hold off Marseille and St. Etienne for third in the Ligue 1 standings and Subasic was one of their most important players from start to finish. Subasic started 37 of Monaco’s 38 games this season and on top of his win totals, he also led France’s top division with 20 clean sheets. He only allowed 25 goals this season, which was the fewest of any regular starter (0.68 GAA).
The battle for the title of top fantasy goalkeeper was a lot tighter in Ligue 1 than some of the other top flights around Europe but Subasic earned the title with the best overall fantasy stats at his position.

Stephane Ruffier, AS Saint-Etienne
Saint-Etienne nearly beat out both Monaco and Marseille for third in the standings and the play of Ruffier in goal was a big reason for the team’s success. Saint-Etienne allowed just 30 goals on the season, which was the second-fewest in Ligue 1. Ruffier started all 38 games for his club and his 19 wins were among the best in Ligue 1. Only Subasic had more clean sheets than the 18 that Ruffier registered this season and only Subasic had a better GAA than Ruffier’s 0.79.
Anthony Lopes, Olympique Lyon
There was no doubt about Lyon’s position as the second best team in Ligue 1 and as was the case with Ruffier at Saint-Etinne, it was Lopes that made all 38 starts for his club. They allowed just 33 goals all season long, which was top-three in the league.
Lopes registered three more wins than Ruffier but he had two fewer clean sheets and that was the difference between those two players on this list. It is worth noting, though, that Lopes finished with more saves (109) than anyone on this list.
Benoit Costil, Stade Rennes
The first goalie on our list from a team that didn’t finish among the top five in Ligue 1, Costil did an absolutely incredible job for Stade Rennes, who finished ninth in the table. On many days, he was the only reason they were even in games. The fact that more than half of the games that Stade Rennes locked up points in came in games where Costil registered a clean sheet is testament to the fact that he deserves to be on this list. On the year, Costil finished with 15 clean sheets in 38 games and posted a 1.11 GAA.
Salvatore Sirigu, Paris Saint-Germain
Sirigu didn’t have the same workload as some of the other goalkeepers on this list as the 31 saves he made were the 37th most in Ligue 1. That’s a significantly way down the list. However, his win total was definitely a major factor in him rounding out our top five. Sirigu started 34 of PSG’s 38 games and while his save totals might have been better on a lesser team, there is no doubt his win totals would have been fewer. The fact that Sirigu only managed to register 12 clean sheets isn’t very impressive considering the workload that he faced over the course of the season but his 0.82 GAA still proved to be the third-best number among keepers. His overall fantasy total still dictates that he deserves the final spot on this list.
