Furthermore, Wall signed the deal with Adidas in January of 2018 but has been sidelined with a series of injuries. Therefore, his on-court visibility with the product on has been limited. Some three weeks after signing the deal, Wall sustained a left-knee injury that caused him to miss 27 games.
Since then, it’s been a crazy string of serious injuries for Wall; much more extensive than setbacks. First, he missed an extended period of time in December during the 2018-2019 season for a left Achilles tendon injury. Equally important, Wall was slated to miss the rest of that season when he suffered a full tear of the Achilles in February.
Now, Wall is expected to miss the entire 2019-2020 season due to the Achilles injury suffered in February. To say the least, it’s worth asking if Wall will ever be the same All-Star caliber player.
Remember, Wall first began his shoe career with Reebok. However, the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement in February of 2015. It was then that Adidas swooped in with a contract for Wall, which designed and launched his “JWall” signature sneakers. From 2015 to 2017, Wall was a sneaker free agent without a shoe contract at all.
Then in 2017, Adidas came back with another offer in an effort to ramp up it’s player signings with name talent. At that time, a five-year pact was slated to pay wall $25 million over the time span. Finally, it looks like that deal will be ended prematurely due to a string of bad luck in the health department.
