World Cup Odds: Bosnia-Herzegovina needs to pick up a win on Saturday against Nigeria if they hope to advance out of Group F. The likely winner of Group F is Argentina so it could be that the winner of this match gets the other spot in the round of 16. Bosnia-Herzegovina played well in their opener against Argentina but lost by a score of 2-1. Nigeria did very little in a boring scoreless draw against Iran in their opener. Here is a look at Saturday’s match that can be seen on ESPN between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Nigeria.
Bosnia-Herzegovina Favored
The oddsmakers have Bosnia-Herzegovina a solid favorite to win this match as they are listed at about -135 on the three-way line. Bosnia-Herzegovina was actually impressive in the match against Argentina but an own goal put them in immediate trouble and they couldn’t recover. They figure to have more success against a Nigeria team that couldn’t score at all against Iran. This match on Saturday should be more wide open as Nigeria will want to open things up after getting stifled by Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina has already shown they can generate scoring chances.
Nigeria Looking for More Room on Saturday
It was really difficult for the Super Eagles against Iran as they had very few scoring chances. They actually outshot Iran 5-2 but only two of those shots forced Iran’s goalkeeper to make saves. “We are very disappointed because the opening match is very important,” Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel said. “We looked for the win, but Iran knew what we wanted to do and put 11 men behind the ball. They managed to stop us from playing our game. We’ll have to create more chances in our next match and be sharp in front of goal.”
World Cup Picks
Bosnia played well against Argentina and I expect them to continue their strong play against Nigeria. Look for Edin Dzeko to get loose and score in this one and for Bosnia-Herzegovina to get the win with the game going over the total.
