World Cup Betting: Group A action continues on Friday as Cameroon takes on Mexico. It is a huge match for both teams if they hope to advance out of the group stage. It is pretty much a given that Brazil will win Group A so that means only one other spot is available. The winner of this match will have a chance while the loser will be in immediate trouble. Mexico is listed as a slight favorite in World Cup odds. Here is a look at the game and World Cup picks.
Mexico +130, Cameroon +245, Draw +215, total 2
The goal line on this match has Mexico laying a half goal at +130.
Mexico
It was pretty ugly in qualifying for Mexico as they had to beat New Zealand in a playoff just to make it to the 2014 World Cup. They do have a very good striker in Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez who plays for Manchester United but there is not much after him. The team has looked pretty good in recent friendlies but it is still hard to trust this team on the big stage. If Hernandez doesn’t score it is hard to see how this team can win.
Cameroon
Cameroon is the underdog in Group A. They are ranked 50th in the world which is well behind Brazil, Croatia and Mexico. The team has only made it out of the Group Stage one time and that was in 1990. They do have Samuel Eto’o but he has seen better days. The good news for Cameroon is that they won’t have to play Brazil until their last match in Group A and by that time Brazil might already have the group clinched and be resting players.
World Cup Picks
This match has draw written all over it. I don’t trust Mexico but I don’t really like Cameroon. I can see both of these teams playing a very tight style of soccer, taking no chances. I will take a shot with the draw at +215 and also play the mach under the total.
