World Series of Fighting 21 rolls into Edmonton, Canada this Friday night with a card headlined by two World Series Of Fighting title fights. In the featherweight division, champion Lance Palmer faces off against Chris Horodecki in his first title defense. The co-main event features heavyweight titlist Smealinho Rama defending his belt against Blagoi Ivanov.
Horodecki will have a wide experience advantage (21-5-1 overall) facing Palmer, who is 9-1 overall. Horodecki was once a prodigy of sorts, as he is still just 27 years old and has logged nearly 10 years as an MMA pro. In Palmer however, he faces one of MMA’s hottest prospect, as he trains with the same Team Alpha Male that has produced UFC stars Chad Mendes, Urijah Faber and bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw.
At heavyweight, Rama has been doing well for himself in the WSOF, getting off on the right foot by taking out wrestling great Steve Mocco in his organizational debut and then securing the title with a fast KO over Derrick Mehman last October.
Ivanov is a talented acquisition for the WSOF, as he is 11-1 overall and had a fine 6-1 record in Bellator before being released last May after losing to Alexander Volkov. He has not fought in the year since, and it will be interesting to see if he ca re-capture the form that made him a real prospect in the heavyweight division.
