WWE Battleground Odds

The World Wrestling Entertainment’s next pay-per-view is set for this Sunday, July 24th, as “Battleground” takes place at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

The main event is a “triple threat” bout for the WWE title. The current titleholder is Dean Ambrose, and he will face both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at the same time. Most WWE followers know that all three wrestlers made up a team called The Shield, and that both Reigns and Rollins have already held the title since the group splintered.

It will be interesting to see what direction the WWE goes. Ambrose is clearly the most popular of the bunch, and Reigns is coming off a suspension for failing to adhere to the WWE’s “wellness policy.” Rollins was excellent as a “heel” champion, and the recent WWE draft saw him taken as the number one overall choice by the RAW brand of WWE, so the WWE still has big plans for the architect. They may start at Battleground if Rollins can emerge with the title belt.

Also getting a lot of attention for this PPV is the pairing of John Cena with the tag team of Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Amore and Cass are recent adds from the NXT roster, and their immense popularity is due mainly to the fact that Amore is a mic wizard. Despite some in-ring short comings, the pair were floated to the WWE audience with little direction, and they got over with the fans. Now they get to work alongside the most consistent performer in the business. They meet AJ Styles along with his cronies Gallows and Anderson. The WWE should be trying to end this feud between Styles and Cena, and move Styles on to bigger and better things.

Right now, the books have The Miz as favored to retain his WWE Intercontinental title against Darren Young. Young has been partnered with WWE Hall of Famer and former champion Bob Backlund as a mentor, and he has been using updated version of some of Backlund’s moves such as the spine buster and the chicken wing. Young is the WWE’s first openly gay performer, and the fact that he does not use that in his character here does not mean he is not in for a push and a win here.
