The Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View is two weeks away, and the show is nowhere close to being full. Only the Money in the Bank ladder match and WWE World Championship match have been scheduled for the July 19 Pay-Per-View. How will tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw affect the card for Money in the Bank?
Opening Segment
The participants in the Money in the Bank match (Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, & Cesaro) start off the show in the ring on top of ladders. After they all brawl for a little while, former Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long makes a surprise appearance. Because Smackdown is going live on July 19, Teddy Long is here to stake his claim. Stephanie McMahon comes out to interrupt Long and send him to the back. She then proceeds to make several singles matches for tonight including all of the participants.
Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho
This is the first match of three tonight that will involve the Money in the Bank ladder match participants. Both Cesaro and Jericho suffered losses at Extreme Rules, with Cesaro losing to The Miz and Jericho losing to Dean Ambrose in an Asylum match.
After delivering the Cesaro swing to Jericho, The Swiss Superman locks in the Sharpshooter for the victory. Winner (via submission): Cesaro
Rusev (w/Lana) vs. Jack Swagger
Before the match starts, Titus O’Neil, who has had his problems with Rusev recently, joins the commentary team.
Jack Swagger made his first television appearance in a long time when he faced Rusev on Smackdown, and after failing to defeat the Bulgarian Brute, Swagger looks to take Rusev down in his home state of Oklahoma.
Outside the ring at the count of 9, Rusev pushes Swagger into Titus O’Neil to leave Swagger out for the count of 10. After the match, a furious O’Neil comes into the ring to attack Rusev and send the United States Champion retreating. Winner (via count-out): Rusev
In-ring Segment
Last week on Raw, AJ Styles and The Club attacked John Cena, and tonight, Cena is here to find out why. They banter for a while, and after the Club gets ready to attack Cena, they are stopped by The New Day.
The Vaudevillains vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass
The last time both of these teams faced each other was at WWE Payback for the #1 Contender’s Tag Team Tournament finals. During the match, Enzo Amore was sent through the bottom two ropes and suffered a concussion that kept him out of action for several weeks.
During the match, Aiden English tries to injure Amore the same way that Simon Gotch did at Payback, which infuriates Big Cass. Cass attacks English for too long in the corner, forcing the disqualification. After the bell rings, Cass lays out the Vaudevillains. Winners (via disqualification): The Vaudevillains
Backstage Segment
Teddy Long goes to Stephanie McMahon’s office to suggest a Tag Team Championship match that McMahon decides to make official. At the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View, The New Day will defend the Tag Team Championship titles against Enzo and Cass, The Vaudevillains, and The Club in a fatal four-way tag team match.
Sami Zayn vs. Alberto Del Rio
This is the second match of the night to feature Money in the Bank ladder match participants, and this match features a former briefcase holder. Del Rio is the only participant who has won the briefcase before, so he arguably has the biggest advantage on June 19.
After hitting the double stomp in the corner, Alberto Del Rio picks up the victory. Winner: Alberto Del Rio
Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens
This is the third and final match involving Money in the Bank participants, and these two have a long history. They have feuded over the Intercontinental Championship, with Ambrose successfully defending the title at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View earlier this year.
Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on Kevin Owens to pick up a critical win going into the Money in the Bank ladder match. Winner: Dean Ambrose
After the match, Ambrose climbs to the top of a ladder and is pushed over by Owens.
In-ring Segment
Charlotte and Dana Brooke come down to the ring, and Charlotte addresses how she can be the WWE Women’s Champion without Ric Flair at her side. During her explanation, she is interrupted by Natalya and Becky Lynch, who have had their problems with Brooke and Charlotte over the last few weeks. After they insult each other for a while, a fight breaks out, ending with Dana Brooke and Charlotte standing tall.
Tyler Breeze (w/Fandango) vs. R-Truth (w/Goldust)
Golden Truth has recently joined forces as a tag team, and they have a poor record at 0-3.
During the match, Fandango interferes, and the two teams fight in the ring. Result: No Contest
After the match, Teddy Long comes back to the stage to try and make a tag team match, but he is instead escorted out of the building.
The Club vs. The New Day
After The Club attacked the New Day on Raw last week and a singles match between AJ Styles and Kofi Kingston on Smackdown, these two teams finally face each other in 3-on-3 tag team action.
Before the match starts, the two teams brawl, ending with a Styles Clash to Xavier Woods, sending Woods to the locker room. Big E and Kofi Kingston will have to compete in a handicap match.
The numbers game is too much for the New Day, and Styles hits the Phenomenal Forearm for the win. Winners: The Club
After the match, The Club looks to continue the beatdown on the New Day when John Cena comes down to the ring to even the odds.
