WWE Money in the Bank Recap: Lunatic Champion

WWE has labelled tonight’s event as the greatest Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View of all time. With a great ladder match lined up, AJ Styles vs. John Cena, and Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, it may very well be. However, time will tell. Who will come out with the Money in the Bank briefcase, and will this event really be as great as WWE is promoting?

Golden Truth vs. Breezango
Before the match starts, we see a video package with Breezango tanning. While Breeze and Fandango were tanning, R-Truth and Goldust turned up the tanning booth to 11 so-to-speak, leaving Breezango incredibly burned. This gives Golden Truth a clear advantage.

After R-Truth drags Tyler Breeze out of the ring, Goldust hits the Final Call on Fandango for Golden Truth’s first victory as a tag team. Winners: Golden Truth

Predicted Winners: Breezango (0/1)

The Dudley Boyz vs. The Lucha Dragons
This has the least build of any match on the card, and that’s saying something. These two teams are essentially trying to build momentum in the tag team division, and that’s about it.

After sending D-Von Dudley out of the ring, Kalisto hits the Salida Del Sol on Bubba Ray Dudley. The former United States Champion then tags in Sin Cara, who hits the Swanton Dragon Bomb on Bubba Ray Dudley to pick up the victory. Winners: The Lucha Dragons

Predicted Winners: The Lucha Dragons (1/2)

The New Day (c) vs. Enzo & Big Cass vs. The Club vs. The Vaudevillains – WWE Tag Team Championship
The Tag Team Division has boomed recently with NXT call-ups and the surprise signing of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Three of the most impressive tag teams on the roster have been given a Tag Team Championship opportunity at the same time. This gives The New Day a very slim chance of retaining their titles.

In a fatal four-way tag team match, only two competitors are in the ring (legally) at once. They can tag anybody on the apron, including other teams. There are no eliminations, and the first fall wins the match.

Big Cass sends himself and Luke Gallows out of the ring, giving Big E and Kofi Kingston the ability to hit the Big Ending/DDT double team on Karl Anderson. Kingston then covers English, who was previously hit by the Magic Killer. Winners, and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: The New Day

Predicted Winners: The Club (1/3)

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin have been [barely] feuding over the past few months. They have competed on two consecutive Kickoff shows, and tonight, they have been bumped up to the main show. Every time they have squared off (including a Monday Night Raw match), Corbin has emerged victorious.

Corbin knocks Ziggler off of the top turnbuckle and follows it up with the End of Days for the win. Winner: Baron Corbin

Predicted Winner: Baron Corbin (2/4)

Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Becky Lynch & Natalya
Since Paige defeated Charlotte on Monday Night Raw in a non-title match, Paige is fighting for the Women’s Championship tonight. Oh wait, there is a tag team match instead. If anything, a victory for Natalya and Becky Lynch could give them a future championship opportunity.

After Natalya and Becky Lynch run into each other, Charlotte takes advantage with Natural Selection for the win. Winners: Charlotte & Dana Brooke

After the match, a frustrated Natalya attacks Becky Lynch from behind, and leaves her partner laid out in the ring.

Predicted Winners: Becky Lynch & Natalya (2/5)

Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews
Sheamus seems to hate the fact that the “New Era” is pushing him to the side, so he decided to make a statement by attacking Apollo Crews several weeks ago. This match has the potential to be great, but there is barely any interest.

Sheamus hits White Noise from the second rope, and Crews kicks out at 2. While Sheamus argues with the referee, Crews rolls up Sheamus for the surprise victory. Winner: Apollo Crews

Predicted Winner: Apollo Crews (3/6)

John Cena vs. AJ Styles
John Cena returned from injury on Memorial Day, where he was confronted by AJ Styles. After the Club seemed to attack Styles and Cena, Styles turned on Cena and assaulted him alongside Gallows and Anderson. Styles has one mission: to beat the “face that runs the place.” Last week on Raw, Styles and Cena signed a contract to ensure that The Club will not be at ringside.

The referee gets knocked out of the ring and The Club comes down to the ring to hit the Magic Killer on Cena. Styles takes advantage and covers Cena for the win. Winner: AJ Styles

Predicted Winner: John Cena (3/7)

Chris Jericho vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens – Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Over the last month, all of these Superstars have competed in matches to try to build momentum going into this match. Now that the ladder match is finally here, they can all focus on the briefcase. Whoever holds the briefcase can cash it in for a spontaneous WWE World Heavyweight Championship match.

After pushing Kevin Owens onto an elevated ladder, Dean Ambrose grabs the briefcase to win the match. Winner: Dean Ambrose

Predicted Winner: Kevin Owens (3/8)

Rusev (c) (w/Lana) vs. Titus O’Neil – United States Championship
Titus O’Neil has not liked Rusev’s actions over the past few weeks, and that earns him a title shot tonight. On Father’s Day with his family in the front row, it sure seems like Titus O’Neil could pick up the victory.

Rusev locks in the Accolade for the victory, defeating Titus O’Neil in front of his own family. Winner, and STILL United States Champion: Rusev

Predicted Winner: Rusev (4/9)

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins – WWE World Heavyweight Championship
This is a match that has been two years in the making. Seth Rollins turned on the Shield to join the Authority, and since then became the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31. Rollins got injured in November 2015, and during Rollins’s absence, Reigns captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship three times. Rollins looks to end Reigns’s third title reign tonight, and regain the title he never lost.

After two Pedigrees to Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins pins “The Guy” and remains undefeated in WWE World Heavyweight Championship title matches. Winner, and NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Seth Rollins

Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns (4/10)

After the match, Dean Ambrose attacks Seth Rollins from behind with the Money in the Bank briefcase, and cashes it in.

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Dean Ambrose – WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds as the match starts to successfully cash in the briefcase. There goes that Rollins undefeated streak I mentioned three sentences ago.

Winner, and NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Dean Ambrose
