The World Wrestling Entertainment’s “Payback” PPV comes to us this Sunday from Baltimore. The show has eight matches on the books, so it may be worth checking back later at the books, but the lines for three of the featured fights are up at the books.
John Cena takes on former champion Rusev for the WWE United States Championship, and right now the line has Cena a big favorite to retain at-560, with the comeback on Rusev, who is returning +370. This feud is probably entering it’s last fight, and Cena has been holding he title he took from Rusev through the thick of the feud, including winning a “Russian Chain Match” at the Extreme Rules PPV that involved him dragging a prone Rusev to all four corners for the win. It is unlikely that Rusev will regain the belt or that this feud will extend itself, though what the WWE does with Rusev next will be very interesting.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins faces a “Fatal 4-Way” where he faces Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton at the same time with the title on the line. The match is highly unpredictable, as a pinfall by any man over any other man results in a transfer of the title and a win. nevertheless, the books have Rollins winning as a big favorite, paying -560 while any of the other three guys win are paying back at +370.
In a best of 3 falls bout for the WWE Tag Team Championship, Champions The New Day are favored to retain their belts paying -350 over the former champions Tyson Kidd and Cesaro, who are paying back at +250. The New Day gimmick took three underused fighters and try to make them a popular tag-team, but the gimmick has back-fired in a good way, and that is that Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are now catching big -time heat as bad guys. It is Big E and Kingston that hold the titles, but look for Woods to make his presence felt. Kidd and Cesaro as a team seem to have run its course, and Cesaro especially, seems ready for a new booking.
