WWE Power Rankings, Week of 4/24/17

Welcome back to the Get More Sports Weekly WWE Power Rankings, where we rank the top 25 Superstars of the past week by impact, performance, and momentum. This past week was a big one for WWE. Raw hosted Payback, which also featured a few SmackDown Superstars, and every weekly show was solid. Now that Payback is in the books, how does this affect the Power Rankings?

  1. Braun Strowman (+0)
For the third week in a row, Braun Strowman is on top. After sending Kalisto off of the stage inside a dumpster, Strowman went on to defeat Roman Reigns in the main event of Payback.
  2. Alexa Bliss (+3)
After insulting Bayley on Raw, Alexa Bliss did exactly what she said she was going to do when she defeated her for the Raw Women’s Championship at Payback. Bliss is the first and only woman to have held both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships (which is more impressive when you think about how she never won the NXT Women’s Championship).
  3. Jinder Mahal (+3)
Two weeks ago, Jinder Mahal was a nobody. Now, he is a regularly featured Superstar and the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship. He stole Randy Orton’s title belt on SmackDown, then used it against him in the House of Horrors match at Payback to cost him the win.
  4. AJ Styles (-2)
The Phenomenal One managed to score a roll-up victory over Baron Corbin, but his victory was short-lived when Kevin Owens attacked him after the match. Since Chris Jericho won the United States Championship at Payback, Styles will face Y2J at Backlash instead of Kevin Owens.
  5. The Hardy Boyz (+4)
Matt Hardy won a singles match against Sheamus on Monday Night Raw, then both Hardy brothers retained the Raw Tag Team Championships against Sheamus and Cesaro at Payback.
  6. Jack Gallagher (-)
On Monday Night Raw, 205 Live, and NXT, Jack Gallagher had great matches. On Raw, he won a tag match alongside Austin Aries. On 205 Live, he lost to Neville in another thrilling bout. Finally, he lost a very close WWE United Kingdom Championship match to Tyler Bate on NXT.
  7. Chris Jericho (-)
Everyone thought that since Chris Jericho is going on tour with Fozzy soon, there is no way he would win the United States Championship. Well, Jericho fooled everyone (as he tends to do) by winning the title and becoming the newest member of SmackDown Live.
  8. Sheamus & Cesaro (-)
Even though they lost their Raw Tag Team Championship match against The Hardy Boyz, Sheamus and Cesaro made an impact by assaulting the champions after the match. Also, Sheamus knocked out Jeff Hardy’s tooth.
  9. Neville (-)
The King of the Cruiserweights defeated Jack Gallagher by submission in the main event of 205 Live, then proceeded to retain the Cruiserweight Championship in a disqualification loss to Austin Aries at Payback.
  10. Finn Balor (+2)
Balor replaced Enzo Amore in a six-man tag team match on Raw, leading his team to victory. Then on the Payback Kickoff Show, he spoke for the first time since his return, finally giving the WWE Universe more of a reason to care about him.
  11. Breezango (-)
SmackDown Live is pulling out all of the surprises. After Jinder Mahal became the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship, Breezango would win a Beat the Clock Challenge last week to become the #1 Contenders to the Usos’ SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
  12. Bray Wyatt (-)
Sure, the House of Horrors match was a little hokey, but Bray Wyatt defeated Randy Orton in the match he invented. However, he should’ve cashed in his WWE Championship rematch.
  13. Austin Aries (-)
Following his tag team match win alongside Jack Gallagher on Raw, Austin Aries would end up defeating Neville in the Cruiserweight Championship match. Since this was by disqualification, however, Neville remains the champion.
  14. The Miz (+9)
The most “must-see” Superstar in WWE hosted two editions of MizTV last week, and both were great segments. He got the best out of Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose, and Chris Jericho, and on top of that, he competed in the main event of Raw.
  15. Kalisto (-)
In a shocking upset, Kalisto actually defeated Braun Strowman in a Dumpster match. However, Strowman would ruin then by sending Kalisto (inside a dumpster) off of the stage.
  16. Kevin Owens (-9)
The former Face of America made a statement by attacking AJ Styles on SmackDown, but since he lost the United States Championship to Chris Jericho, it looks like his feud with Styles is postponed.
  17. Tyler Bate (-)
The WWE United Kingdom Champion made his return to NXT television to successfully defend his title for the second time, this week against Jack Gallagher.
  18. Charlotte (-15)
The Queen had an opportunity to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Naomi, but the match was ruined when the rest of the Women’s Division (excluding Becky Lynch) interfered and caused a no contest.
  19. Naomi (+5)
In her title match against Charlotte, Naomi continues to have the best matches of her career when she is up against the best in-ring competitors WWE has to offer while also staying SmackDown Women’s Champion.
  20. Nikki Cross (-)
Before NXT even got started, Nikki Cross was calling out Ruby Riot. Throughout the night, the erratic SAnitY member brawled with Riot twice throughout the show, with more of this feud to come.
  21. Drew McIntyre (-)
McIntyre was challenged to a match by the arrogant Andrade “Cien” Almas, and the former Intercontinental Champion put on a dominant performance by disposing of Almas.
  22. Aleister Black (-)
In another squash match, Aleister Black shows that he already has his character down, and combined with his in-ring presence and talent, he can become a huge star immediately.
  23. Enzo Amore & Big Cass (-)
For the first time in what feels like forever, Enzo Amore and Big Cass won a regular tag team match. Now that there is a vacancy for the Raw Tag Team Championships’ #1 Contender spot, they are one step closer to filling it.
  24. Roman Reigns (-)
The Big Dog returned after Braun Strowman put him on the shelf for two weeks to compete in the main event of Payback. Reigns lost the match, but for someone who is injured, he put on a hell of a performance.
  25. Bayley (-)
Although Bayley lost her Raw Women’s Championship in her hometown, she put on what could be considered the match of the night, while giving Alexa Bliss her best match since Bliss got called up to the main roster.
  • New to the Rankings This Week: Bayley, Roman Reigns, Enzo Amore & Big Cass, Aleister Black, Drew McIntyre, Nikki Cross, Tyler Bate, Kalisto, Austin Aries, Bray Wyatt, Breezango, Neville, Sheamus & Cesaro, Chris Jericho, Jack Gallagher
  • Kicked off the Rankings: Tye Dillinger, Primo & Epico Colon, Hideo Itami, Nia Jax, TJ Perkins, Dean Ambrose, Samoa Joe, Big Show, Andrade “Cien” Almas, Eric Young, Akira Tozawa, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, Sami Zayn, Ariya Daivari
