WWE Power Rankings, Week of 5/29/17

Welcome back to the weekly Get More Sports WWE Power Rankings, where we rank the top 25 WWE Superstars based on their impact, performance, and momentum. Last week, WWE had a pretty big week. SmackDown started building toward Money in the Bank, NXT continued to find what exactly their “new era” is, and Monday Night Raw hosted Extreme Rules. Let’s see how all of this affects the rankings.

  1. Samoa Joe (+11)
No one had a bigger week than Samoa Joe. He defeated Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt in a triple threat match on Raw, then he won the Fatal Five-Way match at Extreme Rules to become the new #1 Contender for the Universal Championship.
  2. The Miz (+4)
While The Miz lost in a six-man tag team match on Raw, he more than made up for it by using his smarts to capture the Intercontinental Championship from Dean Ambrose.
  3. Alexa Bliss (-2)
The Raw Women’s Champion would have stayed on top of the list if is wasn’t for the abysmal “Bayley: This is Your Life” segment from Raw. She redeemed herself a little bit by retaining her championship against Bayley in a Kendo Stick on a Pole Match.
  4. Shinsuke Nakamura (-1)
The King of Strong Style continued his dominance on the main roster when he teamed up with Sami Zayn on SmackDown Live. Nakamura and Zayn defeated the unlikely team of Kevin Owens and Baron Corbin, and Nakamura got the pinfall over Owens.
  5. Neville (-)
The Cruiserweight Champion had a poor start to his week, but it got better as the week went along. After assaulting Austin Aries on 205 Live, he would then go on to defeat Aries in a Submission Match at Extreme Rules to retain his title.
  6. Breezango (-2)
Tyler Breeze and Fandango are keeping themselves relevant even though they are out of the SmackDown Tag Team Championship picture. After another hilarious edition of the Fashion Files, they picked up a victory over the Colons.
  7. Sheamus & Cesaro (-)
After constantly losing to the Hardy Boyz in a variety of singles matches, Sheamus and Cesaro defeated them in a Steel Cage match to become two-time Raw Tag Team Champions.
  8. Sami Zayn (+5)
Shinsuke Nakamura can’t be the only person to get credit for the tag match victory. Sami Zayn competed for most of the match that saw Zayn and Nakamura defeat Baron Corbin and Kevin Owens.
  9. Dolph Ziggler (-)
The Showoff had a surprising victory in the main event of SmackDown Live. The former Intercontinental Champion shocked the WWE Universe by pinning AJ Styles clean after a superkick.
  10. Jinder Mahal (-8)
The WWE Champion didn’t do much this week other than banter with Randy Orton, but he does hold the title that essentially makes him the face of the company.
  11. The New Day (-)
It seems like this is the first time that The New Day made the Power Rankings. The longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history have been away from the ring since Kofi Kingston need to recover from an ankle/foot injury, but they returned to SmackDown Live to announce that they are the new #1 Contenders for The Usos’ Smackdown Tag Team Championships.
  12. Roman Reigns (+6)
The Big Dog didn’t pick up a victory in the Fatal Five-Way match, but he wasn’t the one who took the fall. Along with a great performance at Extreme Rules, Reigns defeated Seth Rollins in the main event of last week’s episode of Raw.
  13. Cedric Alexander (+1)
Since returning to the Cruiserweight Division a couple weeks ago, Cedric Alexander has been on a roll. In an action-packed match with Corey Hollis, Alexander took his opponent to his School of Chiropractic Medicine for another dominant victory.
  14. Kalisto (+11)
Kalisto lost to Titus O’Neil last week on Raw, but that was only because O’Neil used underhanded tactics to win. At Extreme Rules, Kalisto defeated O’Neil’s protege, Apollo Crews.
  15. Kevin Owens (-)
Although Kevin Owens hasn’t been very successful in the ring as of late, he has been the backbone to the first hour of SmackDown Live for two consecutive weeks. Owens has competed in great matches while also taking over Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel.
  16. Cesar Bononi (-)
It wouldn’t be surprising if this is the only time Cesar Bononi ever appears on the Power Rankings. No one expected Bononi to pick up a victory on NXT, but he did just that last week. Andrade “Cien” Almas was a little too confident, and Bononi rolled him up for the upset victory.
  17. Elias Samson (+0)
After defeating Dean Ambrose the week prior, Elias Samson was given more time to shine last week. He sung at Raw and Extreme Rules, and on Raw, The Drifter won a dominant squash match.
  18. Rich Swann (+1)
On Raw, Rich Swann defeated Noam Dar in singles action. Dar would defeat Swann the following night, but the former Cruiserweight Champion teamed up with Sasha Banks at Extreme Rules to defeat Dar and his girlfriend, Alicia Fox.
  19. Sasha Banks (+2)
The former three-time Raw Women’s Champion played a crucial role in her and Rich Swann’s feud with Alicia Fox and Noam Dar. She prevented Alicia Fox from interfering in the singles match on Raw, snatched extensions out of Fox’s head on 205 Live and helped win their mixed tag match at Extreme Rules.
  20. No Way Jose (-)
After being away for several weeks, No Way Jose returned to NXT last week to help Kassius Ohno and Roderick Strong fight off his long-time enemies, SAnitY.
  21. Pete Dunne (-)
In his first match since winning the WWE United Kingdom Championship, Pete Dunne competed on NXT against fellow UK native, Danny Burch. Dunne gave Burch the best match of his NXT career and he defeated Burch after hitting him with the Bitter End.
  22. Tommaso Ciampa (-)
The former NXT Tag Team Champion kicked off NXT this week but cutting a great promo regarding why he attacked Johnny Gargano. Unfortunately, Ciampa is going to be away rehabbing an injury for a little while, but he promises to make an impact when he returns.
  23. The Revival (-)
Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder haven’t returned to the ring since Wilder broke his jaw, but the duo did return to Raw for an interview. Dawson cut a good promo denying claims that they were the ones to attack Enzo Amore.
  24. The Hardy Boyz (-16)
Since they lost their Raw Tag Team Championships to Sheamus and Cesaro, Matt and Jeff Hardy take a huge dive to their rank. They save themselves by putting on a great performance and winning their match on Raw last week.
  25. Drew Gulak (-)
Throughout his campaign to remove high-flying from 205 Live, Drew Gulak has backed up his claims. Last week on 205 Live, Gulak defeated Mustafa Ali for the second consecutive time.
  • New to the Rankings This Week: Drew Gulak, The Revival, Tommaso Ciampa, Pete Dunne, No Way Jose, Cesar Bononi, The New Day, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus & Cesaro, Neville
  • Kicked off the Rankings: Velveteen Dream, Becky Lynch, Akira Tozawa, Charlotte, Aleister Black, AJ Styles, Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor, Asuka, The Usos, Bray Wyatt
