This week’s weekly WWE Preview features the fallout from last night’s No Mercy Pay-Per-View, SmackDown Live building towards Hell in a Cell, and the WWE in-ring debut of Adam Cole.
Monday Night Raw (9.25.17)
Since last night featured No Mercy, Monday Night Raw now looks forward to the next Pay-Per-View, TLC. The only thing we know for sure about TLC is that Asuka will be making her main roster debut there, but perhaps we can find out who her opponent will be soon.
Kicking off the show this week will be The Miz hosting a very special edition of MizTV with his guest being Roman Reigns. Miz wants to ask Reigns the hard-hitting questions about defeating the franchise of WWE, John Cena, as well as some rumors he has heard about the Shield getting back together.
Most champions retained their titles outside of Neville, so there should be matches determining who will challenge for belts at TLC. Alexa Bliss defeated almost the entire Raw Women’s Division (except for Alicia Fox, Dana Brooke, and Mickie James) so there are about eight women looking to become the new #1 Contender. The Miz retained the Intercontinental Championship against Jason Jordan and while Jordan may want another shot, it looks like the A-Lister might be feuding with Roman Reigns soon. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose kept the Raw Tag Team Championships, so their new opponents can be one of only three other teams. Lastly, Lesnar retained the Universal Championship, but odds are he won’t even be there.
SmackDown Live (9.26.17)
There is nothing advertised for SmackDown Live this week, but there is going to be more build for Hell in a Cell. There are a few matches we know for sure are taking place at Hell in a Cell:
- Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – WWE Championship
- Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens – Hell in a Cell Match
- Natalya (c) vs. Charlotte Flair – SmackDown Women’s Championship
- The New Day (c) vs. The Usos – SmackDown Tag Team Championships
This leaves a lot of room to build for new matches, especially for whatever will happen with AJ Styles’ United States Championship. He has been feuding with Baron Corbin over the past couple of weeks but if the US Open Challenge continues, Styles might not even be champion by the Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View. On top of that, Tye Dilliner is also feuding with Baron Corbin so this could end up being a Triple Threat Match. It also seems like a Rusev vs. Randy Orton match is in the works as well.
There is one big question that remains unanswered: What is going on with Breezango and the Fashion Files? Fandango and Tyler Breeze have been putting on some of the best segments over the past couple months and they are now barely on TV outside of a surprise appearance on 205 Live.
205 Live (9.26.17)
This week’s episode of 205 Live features the first episode in the era of Enzo Amore as the Cruiserweight Champion. Muscles Marinara cheated his way through his first month in the Cruiserweight Division, including in last night’s title match against the King of the Cruiserweights, Neville. Judging by the reactions from the rest of the 205 Live roster on Twitter, it seems like the only thing everyone in the locker room has in common is to get the title off of Amore.
More things to expect this week include the growth of the alliance between Gentleman Jack Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick, as well as the return of Drew Gulak’s 277-slide long Powerpoint Presentation on how to make a better future for 205 Live. We haven’t seen Mustafa Ali in a while, so hopefully, he will make a return too.
WWE NXT (9.27.17)
This is a pretty big episode of NXT this week if only because of the debut of a former Ring of Honor World Champion, Adam Cole. Cole first appeared at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III when he, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly (now known as the Undisputed Era) attacked SAnitY and the NXT Champion, Drew McIntyre. After some back and forth over the past couple of weeks, Cole makes his in-ring debut when he goes one-on-one with one-third of the NXT Tag Team Champions, Eric Young.
