The Air Force Falcons battle the Wyoming Cowboys this week in a game that will feature the MWC’s leading passer, Cameron Coffman (1,099 yards, 9 TDs). Coming into the game, the Falcons are 2-2 while the Cowboys are 0-5. The game will air Saturday, Oct 10 at 10:15 p.m. ET on ESP2.
In last week’s matchup, Air Force struggled mightily against Navy 33-11. Garrett Brown had a solid performance in the loss, pulling in three receptions for 64 yards. Wyoming also came up short, losing to Appalachian State 31-13. Tanner Gentry had a quality performance for the Cowboys, grabbing three receptions for 77 yards. Brian Hill also had a great game with 208 rushing yards and a TD on 30 carries.
A close score is not projected this week when the Cowboys, a big 21-point underdog, take on Air Force.
Sitting at 2-2 Straight Up (SU) and 3-1 Against The Spread (ATS), the Falcons will look to improve heading into Week 6. A focal point of Air Force’s offense is the running game, which ranks fifth in the country with 326.2 rushing yards per game. As for the Air Force defense, a few key matchups could decide this game. Expect the Falcons defense to restrict Wyoming’s passing attack. The Falcons have the 20th-ranked pass defense in the nation and give up only 161.5 passing yards per game. The Cowboys will need to stop Air Force’s defense from getting to their quarterbacks in order to be successful in this game. The Falcons rank 12th in the nation in sacks with 3.2 per game. The Falcons are one of the best in the country at scoring in the fourth quarter, averaging 10.5 points.
Over on the other sideline, the Cowboys head into Week 6 with records of 2-3 ATS and 0-5 SU. Stopping the pass doesn’t have to be Wyoming’s first priority since the Falcons aren’t putting up scary numbers through the air. Air Force ranks 125th in the nation with a passing average of 91.2 yards per game.
Predictions: SU Winner – Air Force, ATS Winner – Air Force
