Yankees News: Giancarlo Stanton Out of Game 2 Lineup With Injury

New York Yankees

Giancarlo Stanton is out for game two of the ALCS against the Houston Astros. The slugger is considered day-to-day with a strained quadriceps. He suffered the injury in the second inning of game one while running to first base. He remained in the game and hit a home run en route to a 7-0 Yankees victory.

Apparently, Stanton was unaware of the injury until an MRI after the game revealed it. He has already spent time on and off the injured list in 2019 with injuries to his shoulder, bicep, and calf. The Yankees are no stranger to injuries this season, so for them it should simply be next man up, as their mantra has been all year.

Manager Aaron Boone said that Stanton is available to pinch-hit in game two and is hopeful for the star’s return in this series.
